Can anyone help with information on this motor number on my 1925 Depot Hack?
And why the double numbers?
How were the numbers added?
I will appreciate it.
Gene
#5020121 is a june 1921 number.
#99999896 looks like the originally Ford stamped number on this engine, it's from june 1924.
A june 1921 engine would have two valve covers. If it's a one valve cover block, the june 1924 date is supported. Perhaps this engine was once used as a replacement engine on a 1921 Ford originally titled with the 5 million number, so someone added the number on the engine. What's the number on your 1925 Depot Hack title?
one 9 too many there in my post
The number on my title is 9999896.
Ford stated that old numbers from a current registered car, which has it's motor changed out, could be stamped on the boss of the replacement motor, preferably below the replacement engine number, but could have been stamped above in your case.
According to Bruce's encyclopedia #9,999,896 was made early in the morning june 4, 1924. They started the day with #9,999,351 and #10,000,000 was made at 7:47 A.M.
