I have found the new spokes I have are lacking 2 cuts. They are curved as well as angled. How do I do this?

Mack,

When I built my TT spokes (High School in '65)I made a plywood jig to cut the angles on the Table saw.

The curve or opening for the hub was done after the wheels were assembled. The tricky part was getting the diameter centered and the hole the correct size.

The way I did mine was by mounting the assembled wheel on a large faceplate and then outboard turned the center on a lathe.

You could also do this with a milling machine I suppose.

Best of luck!

I made a disc that just fit inside the felloe out of Baltic Birch 1/4 inch plywood. To do this, drill a tiny start hole just large enough for a small finish nail. Now make a circle cutting jig out of a scrap of wood and cut your disc on a bandsaw. You can also cut it on a tablesaw (look on you tube). Once the disc is cut, bore the center hole so the hub has to be tapped into place in the disc. Set all of this aside and assemble your wheel without the hub. Now, place the disc inside the wheel and using a router with a flush trim bit (set to ride on the plywood), bore the inside of the wheel. Now change bits and cut either the chamfer like Ford did it or match the radius of the hub with a like size round over bit. This will produce a tight fitting hub and wheel assembly.

Are they rear TT spokes? If so, where did you get them? I need some.

These are TT spokes.Well, after looking,I dont think the large angle is a problem to make. The only issue is the curve in the end that meets the hub.The large angle is bigger than it needed to be on the old spoke anyway.I think it may be best to consult a freind who has some tools for wood working and such.He built a wood engine last year that runs.So he should be able to help me setup something to cut these.
I do not know where the spokes came from.
The club,Tarheel T's was ask a few years ago to help fix a fire truck that had car wheels on the back.some old wheels were found that needed spokes, then I found a pair,I think with help from this forum,in Pennslavania, and they bought the wheels and tires.I then bought the spokes.Someone in our club ordered them.
Perhaps our club leader will see this and chime in.
