What is the difference in a Champion X plug and a Champion 31 plug; heat range? If so, hotter or colder?
i believe that with champions the lower the number the hotter the plug, and as i remember the x is a 25, soooo, i would suspect that a 31 is colder. but ill do some looking into this and see what i find.
well i cant find any info on them, found a pic of one and it looks identical to the x,
according to one chart on champion numbering system it would be aviation, but thats not right.
I wondered that too when I saw the ebay ad. The 31's have 1/2 inch pipe thread but could be for hit/miss engines or other car. The reach looks the same as the X's or 25's.
On the Champion site, they state that the numbers increase with increasingly hotter plugs. I am currently restoring a Canadian Foredoor that had Champion 31 "Made in Canada" plugs in the engine. I sure would like to know if these will be acceptable plugs to restore and reinstall.
I have a set of 31's that I ran for about 2 years till I found some X's. I could tell no difference, KB
Dale, run them.
If they aren't satisfactory you'll be the first to know.
The same plugs in different hands will get totally opposite critiques so, as the ad says "just do it".
I used to HATE Champion plugs with a passion and always, always, ALWAYS used AC plugs but when AC stopped making the C77L plugs I had used forever in OLD tractors I had to find a good sub and a Champion plug was highly recommended by a fellow collector.
I've been a Champion user since.
One plug there never seems to be an argument over around here (miracle huh?) is that the OLD Champion X plugs can't be beat.
