Looking to get rid of the adapters in the car now and go with pipe thread plugs. Looking in the catalogs they have the original style X plugs for the "show" car or the modern champions for the "go" car. Now I do drive my car whenever possible and want good performance, but at the same time want the purist original X plug look. are the repro take apart plugs really not that great performing? or will I not notice a difference? Thanks again all. Keep on T-ING!!

I just put a new set of Champion X plugs in my '14. Wouldn't use any thing else. A bit pricey, but well worth it.

My champion X plugs are my 'go' plugs. I don't know why the vendors say that. I have tried nearly all the plugs and find that X's are better than the cheap ones, plus look awesome.

You can pick them up at swapmeets for a few bucks each, and clean them up. That's what I have done.

If your current plugs are adequate, you can take your time shopping for good used ones and save a bundle. The best price I've found on the new Champion X plugs is $20 each at O'Reilly. It's not uncommon to find good used ones for $5 to $7 at swap meets and auctions. The nasty old ones clean up very nicely.

Here's a recent discussion of ignition that includes a lot of comments on spark plugs, some with pictures: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/257047/314542.html.

Thanks for the info, I read the other thread you mentioned, I think the X plugs are going in the car soon. I'll keep my eye open for some since you say they clean up well.

NOS X plugs are on ebay all the time.......IF you get lucky you might get genuine new old plugs for between $20-25 each.

the new ones are nicer than most originals ive seen. one of the only plugs ive seen that will retain its gap after being taken apart.

for 27.50 a plug that will last you forever, thats pretty good.

The new Champion X plugs at Orielly go by the Champion 425 designation.

Orielly part number CHP 425.
