We got back from Dave Huson's on Friday after 5 beautiful days of touring in the Colorado front range. This is a sample of the bright colors of the aspens:
And this little guy was waiting for us at the entrance to the Grand Lake Lodge. No, he is NOT stuffed. We had seen close to 100 elk that morning (we left the lodge at daybreak to go elk hunting in Rocky Mountain National park) including at least one big bull that ran across the road in front of our group, and a group of cows and yearlings that decided to cross the road at another spot.
Beautiful canyons, bright colored aspens, lotsa elk (not many moose), and fantastic mountain scenery all five days of touring. The only thing we could have asked for would have been more cars. There were only five of us that toured all five days. A shame. You don't know what you missed.
Again, thanks Dave for having us. It was truly a fun trip.

How did they put a muzzle on that bull? Seriously, looks like a tour to remember for all who were lucky enough to be part of it. Thanks for sharing. More photos?
No muzzle. Just the early morning shadow from a tree branch.
Winter is coming to Colorado. When we got to Loveland on Thursday, Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain Park was closed. Luckily, it was reopened Friday morning, before we began our ascent from Estes Park.
This is some of the snow alongside the road on the way to the summit in Rocky Mountain National Park
This is a typical scene as we were driving from Fort Collins toward Walden. I think we crossed the continental divide almost every day.

Our cabin at Grand Lake was next to the cabin that Henry Ford had stayed at. Needless to say, his cabin was a bit bigger and had a really nice view of the lake.
How about this view out your back door? This was in some of the 'big ranch' country east of Walden.
Sadly, as we got closer to Fort Collins, we passed through a canyon that had quite a bit of damage from the summer fires.
Still, was a truly beautiful tour.
Thanks again, Dave Huson.

thanks Ron for posting the pictures.
Colorado is my favorite state. Even the ugly parts are beautiful!? How can that be? There are no ugly parts.
