I started out yesterday morning from Nebraska. Left home at 4 a.m.with the Ford diesel pulling our new 32 foot trailer. I intended to stop somewhere, maybe IL or IN. Then I thought I'd try to put 800 miles on.

Then decided to make it as far as Pittsburgh. After that, it was through the mountains, and viola, I'm at Hershey. Drove the 1200 miles in 21 straight hours.

Keith, I see from the other post your already in. Maybe I'll see you at the museum tomorrow.

Hope to see several other MTFCAers,

Rob

You've got that right Mike...average speed 57 plus a little mph - with the cargo!

I bet even better than 57+ a bit. Fuel and bathroom stops add up! I bet it was close to 19 hours of real driving resulting in 63+ mph.

NY to Des Moines 21 hours in the car 19 hours of driving 1200 miles, college days. :-)

When I was in college in the Boston area in 1959-60, three guys in my freshman dorm had a bit too much adult beverage one evening and decided that they would drive - in a Porsche - to Oregon and take a dip in the Pacific Ocean. A few days later, we received a postcard from somewhere in Pennsylvania (I think), written and sent the next day, that read, "We've sobered up, but have decided to keep going." They did go to Oregon and take their dip, after which they drove back. Yes, John, college days....

Hi guys. Not very young (or bright). I do travel efficiently. I try to drink (not adult beverages) as little as possible, and ate very little to not get sleepy during the drive.

The worst time was about 2 to 3 pm. I had four fuel (and pee) stops. Didn't intend to go all the way, until I hit south Pittsburgh. Today was fixing things that broke on the drive.

And, now for that adult beverage........... :-)

I have to remember back in my "truckin'" days if I drove over 10 hours, I could get fined - and/or "put to bed" for eight hours. What's the difference here?

Adrenalin, Fred, adrenalin. Rob was really anxious to get there. In light aircraft accidents, a factor is called "get-there-itis."

Glad you had a safe trip, Rob.

1200 miles, @ 21hrs. + 32 feet of trailer and what 5000lbs of antique Fords...?
I'm gonn'a say that = a whole lot of fuel...! Sounds like you did okay I'm sure a lot of folks will enjoy seeing the Model K I had the pleasure of seeing one in 2003 at Fords 100th what a massive machine!
That's the size car I need I'm 6.5 and 280lbs the little 11 roadster I have is like wearing a tight shirt need to sell it and get something I can stretch out in.
Wish I was there....maybe next year, I've been saying that for the last ten years..! I gotta get with it time isn't waiting on me.

We are glad you made it here safely. Be certain to stop by the MTFCA area, C4Q 37 and say hi. Dena and I set everything up today and will be ready for the crowd on Wednesday. As we walked around today we saw a bunch of old friends and saw some beautiful cars. Steve , you need to get to Hershey. It was on our bucket list and we are so glad we made the first trip about 10 years ago, we love it.

It's on my to do list for sure, I've been to Chickasha it's a pretty small area, but the pound for pound early T parts you can find is worth the trip... I guess I'll place the blame for me not going is the fact I've not needed any parts for the past 2-3 years.
Well not to mention buying a new house, moving, helping my Dad take care of my Mom then loosing her this past Feb. so more reasons than I care to look back on. But moving forward I do plan to attend Hershey soon..... You guys have fun and be safe.

Had a great time today in the Swap Meet. Saw Rob driving his "K" around with Dean Yodor in the back seat and someone else with Rob in the front seat.

Also saw Don Lang out looking for parts, Trish, Brent Mize, Dennis & Dena Gordor, and many others.

Only bought a few parts. Will hit it again tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain. :-(

Keith

Keith,
Great seeing you today! Dean did a bit of "warranty" work, we had a leaky carb problem. I gave several rides today and had a great time. Fords seen today included a few 1909's, a 1910 and a lot of other great Ts. Heard there was a Kim Dobbins sighting today, but can't confirm the sighting.
Tim says his K is at Hershey,, but haven't seen it yet.
Rob

Rob

If the stars align and I hold my mouth just right, I'll have my K on the field tomorrow next to yours. There's no chance you'll get the cars confused as the brass on my car has not been polished in over a year.

Cheers,

Timothy
