That sign looks very familiar on our recent trip up and around the Barossa!

It's remarkable how much that looks like California.

Nevin, I would love to see a picture of that sign!

The photo was taken near Bethany in the famous wine region of the Barossa Valley, South Australia.

As for 1397, perhaps if the English had of used model 'T's on the Crusades they might of actually won something!

Steve, what is more remarkable is how much California looks like parts of Australia since they began planting our eucalypt [gum] trees. All they need now is a few koalas.

Allan from down under.

I'm looking at a two acre eucalyptus grove from my office window right now. They were planted a hundred years ago to get lumber, but they picked a very poor variety for that.

We have Austalian birds, too.

I've heard the Southern Pacific planted those groves, then found that the wood was too hard for ties. I can believe it. That's really hard stuff.

Rick,
Three Cockatiels AND a Cockatoo? Careful, someone might accuse you of being a "bird-brain."

The Oakland hills are a range of big hills that runs along the east side of Berkeley and Oakland.
Many years ago the hill was planted with thousands of Eucalyptus trees from South America. I don't know why.
Anyway, about 35 years ago there was a freeze and they said the trees were killed so they started cutting them all out.
When spring came the ones remaining leafed out and started growing as usual. OOPS! They did not continue cutting and now there are a lot of them still there.

There used to be a kiwi picture somewhere of a ford that had a ford sign as in David's picture but under the ford sign was a second sign that said 'dangerous ford when flooded'. Regards, Bede. (criekey, thats a lot of 'ford' in one sentence)
