Thought that would get your notice. This the email that has been going around for about ten years, only the pic has been updated.

THIS REALLY PUTS THE TIME AND PLACE WHERE WE ARE IN HISTORY IN A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE.. DOESN'T IT?

1910 Ford Model R
Show this to your friends! This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine!
The year is 1910, only one hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!

Here are some statistics for the Year 1910:
The average life expectancy for men was 47 years.
Fuel for this car was sold in drug stores only.
Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower !
The average US wage in 1910 was 22 cents per hour.
The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year.
A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year,
a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.
More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME.
Ninety percent of all Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools,
many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard.
Sugar cost four cents a pound.
Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.
Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.
The five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke.
The American flag had 45 stars.
The population of Las Vegas , Nevada , was only 30!
Crossword puzzles, canned beer and iced tea hadn't been invented yet.
There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.
Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.
Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores.
Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health'
Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.
There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U. S. A.!

I am now going to forward this to someone else without typing it myself.
From there, it will be sent to others all over the WORLD -- all in a matter of seconds!
Try to imagine what it may be like in another 102 years
--------------------

Yeh, imagine the internet collapsing from all the BS stories like this one.

Thanks for posting spam here yet again Ralph.

This email is one of the first I ever received back in 1998 when I first got connected to the WWW.

People like you keep crap like this going forever clogging everything and causing the bogus / skewed / totally fabricated "facts" to be taken as reality.

I have to laugh every time I see this thing come back around. the year keeps coming on up, but none of the other numbers seem to change. I first noticed that about 2003 (about the second time I ever saw this) because of the 8000 automobiles. Oldsmobile was the largest producer of automobiles at that time and had already built nearly 8000 automobiles by themselves. As the years went on, that number, and several others, became more and more ridiculous.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

Canada was doing far more than passing laws to ban poor people. For example:

What that missive above doesn't tell you is that in 1910, Canada has strengthened its immigration laws to include a probationary period of three years for all immigrants coming into the country. You commit one crime in that period, you risked being deported.

Not to mention that the laws prior to this set limits on the number of immigrants and certain other nationalities that they deemed unsuitable to Canadian lifestyle.

7 blacks immigrated to Canada between 1909 and 1910, because the laws were set up to discourage them from doing so.

In 1906, a tax of 500 bucks for every Chinese person, all but eliminated Chinese immigration.

The government placed a landing fee of $50 on all Sikh immigrants in 1905; the fee was increased to $200 in 1908. The federal government also placed another strict entry requirement on this group. Because Sikhs were considered members of the colonial British Empire, Canada couldn't easily ban these immigrants based on where they lived without banning white British immigration, too. Thus, the federal government made a law in which Sikh immigrants could only come to Canada from their country of ancestry, and only if they migrated by taking a non-stop "continuous journey" by ship. This rule forced Sikhs to buy tickets for their voyage to Canada in India. There was a slight problem, however: no passenger ships ran between India and Canada at the time. Understandably, the number of Sikhs entering Canada went from more than 2,500 people in 1908 to just six in 1909.

So we can see how much the world HAS changed in 100 years.....

We've seen this before. Royce, not sure why you feel the need to jump all over it. Usually, if I don't like a post, I ignore it.

Rob,

Posting here lends credibility to anything T related. I am disputing this on its lack of factual material. It is in error in virtually every statement. The car is not a Model R. The car is not a 1910. Etc, etc. Utter baloney.

If any of you receives this email, simply delete it. Do not forward it to anyone because it is a bunch of poo.

It would be nice if someone did the research to post a picture like that with Factual information about the year. I would but I'm too young to have been there. :-)

Bill
