The Wayne County (Indiana) Foundation has awarded the MTFCA and the Model T Museum a matching grant. Contributions from donors who have NOT given to the Club in the last 12 months (up to $1,000 per gift) will be matched 1:1 by the Foundation.

If you have given to the Club in the last year, the Wayne County Foundation will match any increase gift over that amount.

The match period is limited to donations received October 29 through November 9, 2012.

The Wayne County Foundation will match up to $7,500 in donations and will consider a "bonus" for donations received over $7,500.

Donations from Oct 29 thru Nov 9, 2012 can be mailed to the MTFCA, PO Box 126, Centerville, IN 47330, made online at www.mtfca.com or through www.waynecountyfoundation.org.

Please help us reach our goal! Any and all donations are much appreciated.

Hello Barbara,

First, thank you for all that you do for the MTFCA and the Museum.

Would you consider re-running this thread starting on the 29th and post a progress report periodically so that we can see the progress toward the goal? I will put a check in the mail on the 29th.......honestly I will!

Evan in Paso

Following are Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Matching Grant the Model T Ford Club of America and Model T Museum received. Please review these rules if you think you might donate during the Match period. Thanks!

Challenge Match Program – Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Will grants received from donor-advised funds qualify for the matching dollars?

Answer: Yes, assuming they are received during the match period.

Q: Do you only want copies of thank-you letters for the donations that went to towards
triggering the match amount?

A. Yes. Only copies of the letters pertaining to the gifts that trigger the Foundation
match are required.

Q: For married couples, both that donate with separate checks, does the qualifying dollar
amount of $1,000 apply to the two of them or to each of them individually? As unique
as this case sounds, it does happen.

A: Yes, each gift can qualify, but the gifts should come from two different – and not
joint – accounts.

Q: Our organization operates various programs and we solicit funds for each separately.
Can we make separate applications to the Challenge Grant?

A: No, it’s the organization, not the program that is participating. It’s up to the
organization to either choose which program they want to promote or figure out
how to present the case for multiple programs to the public.

Q: If we tied the Challenge Match Grant to our auction, would someone have to bid over
the retail price for an item before it could (if it would) be considered a donation? Could
it be considered as part of Challenge Match Grant?

A: We would not advise trying to relate auction-related gifts or merchandise sales to the
Challenge Match.

Q: Could sponsors of an event be considered for the Challenge Match Grant if they were
not sponsors event last year?

A: Cash sponsorships received in the qualifying match period would qualify for the
Match, but with respect to what level of support they provided in the previous year.
(Merchandise gift certificates are not cash gifts.)

Q: How is the time frame in which the donation was accepted being verified? Example: If
someone gives me a donation before the match period, would that be an issue?

A: Gifts received before or after the match period do not qualify for match dollars.
Your thank-you letter to the donor will prove that the gift was received in the match
period, because it will specify the date the gift was received.

Q: Would memberships to our organization be considered for the Challenge Match Grant?
Example: If someone increases their membership level from individual ($25) to family
($50), would the additional $25 be counted? If a business joins as a member for $500
when they are not currently a member, would that $500 be considered new money for
challenge grant purposes?

A: Yes, the membership examples described would be acceptable assuming the
membership is purchased in the Challenge Match period.

Q: Will “free will” collections of cash during the match period qualify for the Match? It is
not possible to identify these donors.

A: No. One of our objectives is to help organizations cultivate meaningful relationships
with donors. Free will collections will not qualify for the Match.

Q: Our organization routinely receives contributions from certain donors who wish to
remain anonymous. How can we qualify these gifts for the Challenge Match?

A: The Foundation also works with anonymous donors regularly and we value the
trust they place in us. We will work with you on a case-by-case basis to qualify
anonymous gifts. If it is absolutely not possible to substantiate the gift within the
limitations of the donor’s requirements for privacy, however, the gift cannot qualify
for Match dollars.

Q: Our organization is considering participating in the Challenge Match Program by
having volunteers make crafts and sell them during the Challenge Match period. Would
this be acceptable to count towards the match? The materials for the crafts will be
donated.

A: No this option wouldn’t quality for the Challenge Match program. The objective of
the program is to cultivate donors, not customers.

Q: Our organization is considering having a dinner during the Challenge Match Program
we will charge guests $50 to attend the dinner. The actual cost of the dinner for our
organization is $20 per person. Is there a part of the gift that will qualify for the Match?

A: The portion of the gift that qualifies for a current income tax charitable deduction
would qualify for the Challenge Match. In this case, it would be $30 – the total
amount of the gift less the value of the goods and services received in exchange.

Q: Our organization is having a capital campaign for an expansion and is requesting gifts
from our donors to be received during the matching period. The plan is to use the
matching funds received from the Foundation towards operating. Is this acceptable?

A: Yes, you may do this as long as you are clear to your donors that the matching funds
will be used for operating while their gift will be used towards the capital campaign. Remember: This is an attempt to share information about the Foundation’s 2012
Challenge Match Program in a consistent way and to help clarify how the
program will be administered. All decisions about specific qualifying
strategies, the merits of any particular strategy, and/or the selection of
any organization to participate in the Wayne County Foundation’s 2012
Challenge Match Program are solely those of the Foundation’s Board of
Directors

I helped -- and every donation large or small can help our museum.

When Barb said, "Donations can be mailed or can be made on this website or on waynecountyfoundation.org." the "this website" is our MTFCA homepage at: http://mtfca.com/ Just click on the "Donate" button at the bottom center of the page. The next page comes up and the only option for donating is titled, "MTFCA Museum Building Fund" which is what we want to support. They take PayPal, plastic Visa, Master Card etc. And yes that "little pad lock" pops up to show that the connection is secure. And of course you may also mail a check -- but in that case you need to do it in the next few days if you are far away to make sure it gets there by the 9th.

There are lots of good causes and fortunately for most of us, it is not an "either or situation." Rather it is an "and also" option.

By the way the 2 year old “trick-a-treater” that stopped by about 5 .. no now 10... no now 15 minutes ago dressed as one of those "monkey dolls" from the 1960s is the one that wins my vote for favorite visitor so far tonight. I don't even think trick-a-treat supports our hobby or is one of those "good causes." But it does bring some smiles to the youngsters. And I know our museum will not only bring lots of smiles to young and old alike but help introduce many folks to our Model T and our hobby.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

A big thank-you to all our members and our chapters for contributing! We also went out to local businesses to ask for donations. This is an awesome opportunity for the Model T Ford Club of America and the Model T Museum. We appreciate all your help. It is very exciting. We should have a final tally next week. I feel confident we will make out goal--and beyond--and qualify for a bonus grant.

W O W !

The Model T Museum and MTFCA belongs to you, the members. We hope you can visit YOUR museum soon!
