Did you ever try to get a catalog from some of these parts vendors.
Called Mac's, after listing to all the computer generated, if you want this press this, if you want this press that. All I wanted was a new catalog. Mine is 2010. Then, they told me, if I wanted a catalog in 5 to 7 days, it would cost me $5.00 which would be refunded on the next order or if I just wanted a catalog, it would be 5 to 7 weeks.
Thought I would give them another try. That's why I don't buy from Mac's. Guess I will stick with Langs, Bobs and Snyders. Placed an order with Snyders this morning, got a real person, first thing. It will be on its way today.
Richard send me your mailing address via email. and Monday I'll send you a new Langs, Snyders, Bobs, and Gaslight catalogs. as I picked them up at the two tours where I sold parts danuser88@ktis.net
Richard,
That is why I don't buy from Mac's as well. Their customer service blows.
Every time I ordered from Mac's they sent the parts out promptly...6 days later.
If I order model A parts from Sacramento Vintage by mid afternoon I get them early afternoon the next day.
The last time I ordered some parts from Mac's they asked me if I wanted to pay 5 dollars for same day shipping. Never have ordered from them again. I order about 80% of my parts from Langs and they never charge me for same day shipping.
I have personally found Snyder's to be excellent. No, I have not tried any other as they have given me no reason to go else where.
Just my two bob's worth...
Place one order with MACs and you will automatically get a new catalog every 3 months for the next three years.
Mac's forte is illustration. The pictures make their catalogue a handy reference book.
I have to admit, I'm kind of torn between parts suppliers. Trish got me into the habit of calling Lang's (and of course, there's only one Trish—if she started selling yarn, I'd take up knitting). They've been nothing but nice to me and have extended every possible courtesy, so of the Big Three, Lang's is my favorite. I've also heard very good things about the quality of Snyder's parts. Mac's, of course, has the best catalog and I can read it like a newspaper. Prices there seem a little bit higher, but they're seldom out of stock, even on the rarer items.
Most importantly, there are the Mom & Pop shops; folks like Gen-III, R.V. Anderson, Tickin' Through Time, Rocky Mountain Brakes, Fun Projects, Chaffin's, Gaslight, Bob's, Rootlieb, Ron Patterson and The Coil Doctor, etc., who are the life-blood of this hobby and I sure do want them to get plenty of business so they can stick around.
Since I ordered parts from Mac's I get a updated catalog about 3-4 months.
I have to say their catalog is the best in color and lay out and reference information. MY OPINION>
I order parts from all the vendors from time to time. It helps them all to stay in business
I agree they all have there good and bad points so order from all of them and tell them how good or bad they were
I agree with John and spread my parts ordering around to help keep them all in business.
Mac's has been veardy, veardy good to me....yah ~
David; Snyders is tops in my book. Placed an order 11:00AM Thursday and it came today, Saturday. A complete order, by the way. 3 days. WOW
Macs has a good picture book, then go to the Snyders or Smith and Jones and order.
Never tried Langs.Seems well thought of by folkes here.
Another excellent vender is Ford-N-More in Spokane, Washington, Phone number 800-327-1469. They not only offer great service but are some of the best experts on Ts in the country. Try them you will like them.
