Ken,

Even if you are taking the engine apart yourself it is good to check. The last person may have guessed wrong. From the Jun 16, 1919 Ford Service bulletins it shares the bolt on the piston pin goes on the camshaft side of the engine. See the copy below:

Kenneth Todd back in 2007 posted:

Murray Fahnestock's "Model T Ford Owner", page 504 also repeats that. The picture and wording are almost identical.

1922 Dykes, Chart # 331, page 784, also shows the wrist pin clamp bolt on the camshaft side.

He also shared that several regular posters put it on the other side. So it may also depend if on what type of oil you use or band material?

I would recommend follow the Service Bulletins unless someone knows of a real good reason not to.

Also Lang's in their catalog used to share (I haven't checked lately), "Helpful Hint: When installing aluminum pistons the slot faces away from the camshaft." You can see that in their online catalog. http://www.modeltford.com/ or at least it was in their the last time I looked.
Together those two would be solid side of the aluminum piston and bolt on the piston pin both go on the side with the camshaft.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

Thanks Hap! I guess i was lucky i asked this question because i did not give it a thought someone else may have installed them wrong. I am using new pistons and rods so i will mark each, 1 through 4 and start fitting bearings.thanks again. Ken
