Today I got lucky and won a 27 Tudor on ebay. [item no 221137427788] I will need to transport it from Wisconsin to New York in the coming weeks for shipment to Australia. I have initial quotes for this but need to be cautious. Have you all any suggestions/contacts?

My thoughts are I would rather trust it to a fellow T owner and pay him to do the journey. But then I have no idea of the problems one might encounter in the big city.

I am in no mad hurry to get it done. The vendor will hold the car pending arrangements and possible stuffing the back seats with some parts.

Your input please.

Allan from down under.

Allan -- The last Hucks Starter truck I built was transported from here to California for shipment to NZ. We used National Transport LLC. Check their website; very professional and reasonable cost. http://www.nationaltransportllc.com/

Excellent find! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1926-Model-T-Sedan-Ready-To-Tour-/221137427788
Give it a place in a container (but I'm sure you're aware roll on/roll off doesn't work for older vehicles, particularly not those with extra parts stuffed in the back seat..)

Allan,

How do you want your Model A handled ?

If you want it to arrive in the same condition that it was picked up in, I suggest you find an owner/operator
that will safely transport your Model A directly from the pickup location to the drop off location with no transfer .....

There are still plenty of owner/operators to be found ....

Your actual cost to transport will be determined by:

Pickup and drop off zip codes
Method of transport (open or enclosed)
Time frame (how long you are willing to wait)

In general, Wisconsin is tough to get actual transport out of ...

The economies of Wisconsin and Minnesota are such
that more vehicles head out than in,
that means you either wait or pay unloaded miles to have someone drive to your pickup location.

If you can wait for someone to build a trip
to get close to where the Model A is,
you can cut down on the unloaded miles ...

The drop off location also can present a problem.

There are plenty of toll roads for that trip.

Depending on where it is headed in New York
and when it needs to arrive to be loaded
at port can add to the transport cost.

Winter is just about here ...

I would recommend only hard sided enclosed transport to keep what is on the road
from ending up on your Model A .... :-(

I just dropped this 1929 Model A off in Richmond, VA a couple days ago ....

Third generation owner of the same family ... :-)

His mother knew the original owner growing up.

Her father bought it and restored it.

She passed it to her son ... :-)

What was sad to see - the bank had arranged transport
of the Model A from her fathers' house only
4 miles away to her house ...

The company chosen let the air out of the tires (probably because it was too tall for their trailer).

They damaged the body by wrenching down on it.

They also knocked down her neighbors' mailbox ...

1929 Model A

Earlier this month, I brought this 1909 Model T out
to its' new home in Indiana from San Francisco ... :-)

Here is a nice original 28' Ford I hauled from a Ford dealership to a new owner in Maryland ....

1928 Model A

Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy your Model A .... :-)

A '27 is still a T, Jim :-)

Here's a site where you can post your shipping needs and get quotes from several transporters: http://www.uship.com/?=
If you don't know the postal zip codes for the addresses, you can find them here: https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction!input.action

Fellows, thank you so much for your suggestions, but I have done even better. The car was being watched during the Ebay listing and when I posted my request for help in transporting, a previous owner contacted me with details of the extensive work he had done on the car. This generous man has volunteered to trailer it to New Jersey when he goes to pick up en engine he has away in a shop in NJ.
So I get a T enthusiast taking care of it, haulage just as I would do it here, and delivery to the door. I must have been a really good boy this week!
My wife Nancy gave me permission to buy this car, as she would like to be able to wind up the windows to keep out the wind and the rain. The previous owner told me his wife Nancy let him buy it for the same reason! How's that?

Thanks again men. At times I can't believe the generosity and goodwill among the T fraternity.

Allan from down under.

Allan, we have a 27 Tudor in our collection as well and find we use it quite a bit because of the roll up windows.
