I would have liked seeing it hand cranked. If it has a high tension magneto what is the 2ed form of ignition? great photos.

Great looking car.

It has a high tension igntion and the standard battery / coil ignition. Stupidly someone has connected both sets of plug wires to the spark plugs so when it is operating the magneto is supplying voltage back to the coils and vice versa!!!!!

Royce,

Not sure what your referring to? There are 8 spark plugs, four wired through the timer and four to the mag.

I saw video of this car when the (I presume) last owner had it in MT. At that time the car appeared to be a good runner. I wih I had that mag setup on our N.

Rob

As I recall, the MT was asking about the same price as Vault is.

The Hupp is cute... tho I remember 2 different people who had model 20's commenting on the total loss oil system being literally total loss - all over whatever surface it's parked on! Still... I'd love to have a car like this!!! Someday...

Susanne: No, the total loss system does not run out on whatever it is parked on. There are petcocks on the crankcase that you open to drain off the excess oil on occasion. Of course that does not mean that it doesn't leak some oil. It is like a Model T in that respect.

Kind of like certain constant loss motorcycle motors... at least the oil keeps it from rusting too bad! --grins-- (No offense intended, seriously - just repeating something I'd heard.)

The one thing about the "S" for sale that bugs me - maybe it's from having a non-starter T - is that electrical motor geegaw on the right side of that "S" motor... Had the person in the video crankstarted that car I would have been so much more impressed! (Wonder how hard it would be to put that part back to original?)

Anyway, it - no, both of them - gives me something to store away in my dreams & wishes category ;)
