If a later wishbone were installed in a brass T using the special clamp sold on ebay will the lower wishbone hit on the tie rod? Also, if drive shaft nuts were used to fasten the lower wishbone to the bottom of the axle, would the perches be long enough to use cotter pins?
Thanks,
Stephen
No,and yes.The only thing I have found is when using an APCO drag link end cap,it may hit on the upper end.
Period accessory wishbones typically have a dog leg so clearing the tie rod on early front ends with straight spindle arms is not a problem. Refer to the photos below - note that the accessory wishbone has dog legs near where it attaches to the perches.
If the reproduction accessory wishbone is made correctly, it probably should have a similar dog leg.
Thanks, but I would like to attach a later set of wishbone tubes and clamp them to the existing radius rod at the ball using the clamp sold on ebay. Will this work or will there be problems?
Thanks,
Stephen
I did that on my 15 fire truck,no problems.
Does anybody else have experience with this set-up? I just want to make sure every thing will go together like it should.
Thanks,
Stephen
