Just loaded the trailer with the Autowa touring, all done with the refurbish, back to what she probably looked like in 1921 :-) Paint color is a rich deep maroon acrylic enamel to match the original paint on the car.

Did all the restore except the motor and Ruckstell, had two of the forum experts do those for me, runs great, and real roomy too, as this aftermarket body is 6" longer than the Ford. Soon will be ready to tour.

Upholstery shop is down state about 60 miles, and they will redo the top covering in material as per the original, which is ratty tatty today :-) Did the seats and door panels with custom replacement made by mail order from Elizabeth at Classtique.

how close are the front of the rear fenders to the tires....look like their about touching. Nice car Dan, will look real good with the top all done!

Not to speak for him, but that's an optical illusion. My fenders on my regular bodied 25 touring do the same thing.

Lookin' good, Dan! That new top will be the finishing touch you've been waiting for.

Thanks guys.

Pat, actually the rear tires are a bit 'snug' in the fender well. Won't be putting on tire chains :-) But the gap gets bigger when 2 big people climb in the rear seat and the body squats down.

The reason is this body was made in '19-'20 and the 'oversize' tires weren't in vogue yet. So since all of the 'new' tires today are in reality 31"x4" but fit to the 30" rim, that extra tire casing size presents a close fit.

If you look close, had the same problem with the spare tire carrier made for casings (tires without rims) of the true 30x3 1/2 type, so I had to use an old "Sampson" brand tire on the rim there as the new repro Firestone Oversize wouldn't fit the carrier.

Looks like you better put the top down before loading into that trailer!

Dave

Was worried about that too, but it cleared, just barely. The ropes are pulling the rear bow back a bit.

The top now measures 82" to the rear bow from the ground. It's shrunk in length over the years that is pulling the rear bow forward , making it too high.

But, lucky, my trailer is extra height.

The finished top will have about a 1"-2" overhang of the rear bow over the back edge of the body, so total height will be about 80"

At least that is the plan :-)

Do be careful about the car bouncing in the trailer. Depending upon how you tie it down, the car car will bonce somewhere between one and several inches.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
