ok guys , I give up, got the gas tank ready to come out on the 27 coupe, only thing on come off is the filler tube that goes down in front of the firewall. Is it threaded on or just stuck on? its got me baffled thanks. poor ol mike dixon here
Mike
There is a very small set screw that holds the pipe to the socket. Get that screw or what's left of it out, the set screws goes all the way thru the pipe to the other side of the socket.
Then pull the pipe down and away.

And there is a little hook that clamps the drain pipe to prevent rattles.
One other thing, not a filler tube but rather that is an overflow or vent tube.
thanks dan, got the overflow tube off. there was a regular screw through it. as usual, you guys came through again. now off to the radiator shop to be boiled out with acid.
It seems to me, some of the earlier production had the set screw in the engine compartment.
