Stan just rebuilt a Schebler carburator for the Model K. Look at these pics, and tell me how I'm supposed to put this "piece of art" on a grubby old engine?
Stan, your "the man". I can't wait to try it on the car. Even if it doesn't run well, I'll just sit and look at it.
Thank you,
Rob
=)
Love the gold color but I don't think the blue screws are period correct!
Rob,
Stan did a carb for me and my car runs great!
Stan did my carb as well and I could not be happier. The car runs like a top! Stan, you are a class act!
I think he buys gold Krylon rattle cans by the case! Looks real purty Stan.
I can hardly wait to see how 405 cubic inches react with a good carb? Probably break an axle.......
Rob - If it does break an axle Stan can fix that too! ;)
Mike,
Don't forget, I know where your garage is......
Not as if I haven't drug my stuff over in the past.
Rob
Rob, do you have a photo of it with a ruler next to it?
Erich,
I will in a bit.........
Rob
He He. After driving my 14 Touring over Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park with Dave Huson I was feeling fairly full of myself. The next day off that I had I took off on my own, by my self, on a self, and very semi guided tour. I drove past Golden CO, and was having a great time. All of a sudden the car started to run like crap and I had to open the mixture a full turn to keep it running. I was 30 miles from home and by myself. The Touring would barely run and I pissed of a bunch of folks limping my way back home. I let the car cool down and decided that the problem had to be in the Holley G carb. It turned out that the pot metal venturi had broken off at the top flange and the bulk of it had fallen into the bottom of the carb. I have no idea how or why the car kept running. The new venturi arrived from Lang's today and the carb is rebuilt and ready to be install tomorrow. I guess the moral of this story is that I spent a week cleaning up the G and rebuilt it but for some reason it does not look like any of the pictures of Stan's carbs. I bet it will work but it is not a work of art!
Rob - the "new" carburetor looks great.
If you snap an axle, let me know as I happen to have two NOS Model K axles in inventory.
Thus far, I haven't had any trouble with my carburetor and axles.....and am not expecting any either.
Cheers,
Timothy
Tim,
"Chump"
Thanks, guys. That carb ran great on my Ford 600 tractor test engine, which is what I use for larger carbs than T's, hope it works as well on the K when we get it on. It should. I didn't realize the K was quite that many cubes. That's over double the test engine. Probably have to richen it a little to run OK.
By the way Fred, those screws are Stainless Steel. They tend to look blue in the photos, just like my silver hair does. =)
Stan rebuilt a Stromberg OE-1 carb for me. Like Rob, I almost hate to put it on the engine and get it dirty.
