Pardon my off topic but "electrical" has always been my weak point. I just ran across this 1925 article on how to repair my 1917 Maxwell using non Maxwell parts. I'm assuming the most readily available part then would be a Ford regulator, does this seem feasable looking at the diagram? What do G & B stand for? Ground & Battery? The Maxwell is a negative ground system.
Thanks,
Howard Dennis
Just had a thought, could G stand for generator?
Yes Howard that would make sense. The "G" would be for the generator and if you trace the #6 wire which comes from the "B" terminal on the Cutout Will go to an unswitched positive Battery terminal.
G= generator, B= battery. Same kind of cutout as used in a Model T. The dynamo (generator) has an external field coil connection (unlike that used in the T) so as to allow external resistance to control field current and thus charge rate. With both regulator switches out, field current is minimum. LHS switch shorts out lower section of resistance, & RHS switch shorts out upper section.
Fred & John, Thank You for the help.
