Over a year has passed since I started this project, but my original Allen HCCT makes very nice sparks now.
The last two days alone was a long hard battle and four trips to the hardware store for small brass screws and other parts.
I had replaced the small block of wood that holds the spark ring, but I did not drill the 3 holes that held the spark ring in position, as I wanted to verify the centering.
That minor detail I had forgotten and it confused me for a short time, as to just how it all went back together.
Bob Corsica did an excellent job on restoring the meter and replacing the missing hand.
Ron Patterson's original hand drawn diagram was a great help in the new wiring.
With everything assembled and one of Ron's rebuilt coils in the test position, I gave the flywheel a quick shove and was elated to see .8 Volts of AC current on the meter.
A little later, I found and added the crank handle. Now I get 1.5 Volts AC with Ron's rebuilt test coil and with not a lot of cranking effort.
Bob’s rebuilt meter works great and measures right on with the other HCCT meters!
Thank you Bob and Ron for all your help, I could not have done it without you!!!
Nice
James,
You did a beautiful job. Congratulations !! Glad I could play a small part in this great effort.
