Last Sunday here in Adelaide we celebrated our 25th Anniversary London to Brighton "Down Under" Run. 32 pre-1919 vehicles all gathered to celebrate & leak oil over our lovely South Australian roads.
We meet at London Road, Mile End and drive through to the inner suburb of Glandore (about 15 minutes) where we partake in mugs of tea and a buttered "London Bun". From there we wander down to the seaside suburb of Brighton for the medal presentation.
After the formalities we drive the 10 minutes or so to our famous Glenelg where we line up on Colley Reserve and show off our oldies to the admiring public.
The "Pilot Car" this year was Arthur Mullins 1912 Ford #109657 which he has owned since 1935. He bought it from the original owner, prominent Adelaide surgeon Dr. Anstey Giles for £5. Arthur is still with us at a young 98 and still going strong like his Ford!

Here are some photos of a great day!
Thanks David. Very nice line-up.
BTW is the Phanomobile (?) an ex-Melbourne car? I remember it, or one like it taking part on rallies in 1959/60.
So that's where the Phanomobile went. I too remember it in Melbourne in the early/mid sixties. David what's the adjacent tourer in the first pic please, Prince Henry Vauxhall?
Russell (little East of Melbourne)
Yes, it is a 1913 Prince Henry. This is the Murray Aunger car that took the Melbourne to Adelaide speed record in 1913. On his return he kept the car and had his coachbuilders build the body. It is magnificent.
I thought that was a Prince Henry when I first saw the photo above. Now I wish I could do that with a dozen or more other cars in all these photos.
Thank you, again.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
