The only mirror I had on my 24 Roadster was on the back of a removable spotlight. It was too small, and vibrated too much to be useful .. so I pulled it (So .. it's for sale! ..anyone want a really nice removable spotlight, with a convenient rear view mirror? LOL)
What was a proper period rear view mirror? I've seen bolt and clamp on units for the windscreen stanchions .. but are rectangular ones on the center of the top frame of the wind screen kosher .. or mounted to the dash? I JUST put my car in storage, so really can't attest to a dash positioned one being too low. It would certainly be a problem when there is a rider in the car!
Would one like this be appropriate?

If I can find a stable one for a stanchion mount, I'll probably add one of those too .. once I get rid of the shakes. I like to pull over when I see impatient folks behind me .. or have accumulated a string of followers! I'm going to wrench my neck as often as I keep swinging around to see what's behind me!
Thanks,
dennis
I swapped one of the vendor clamp-on mirrors for this one. It sticks out a little further and is more stable.

I put one like Herb shows and I love it.I got the black one for my 17.
I got the brass one for our '16. Well built, weighted head so you actually see what is behind you, not just a mess of blurs.

The one Dennis posted is similar to the one the Ford supplied in 25-27, except it doesn't go over the top of the windshield frame. I think the hole spacing on these is the same though.
Dennis-
That is a nice appropriate looking mirror, but way too small to be useful and it only works when the top is down. I like the mirror that Herb has a link to. I have one and it doesn't look out of place. It is fastened on with one of the windshield screws. The clamp on ones seem too chintzy.-Howard
Thanks all .....
I was looking at maybe putting 2 on .. One on the center top of the windshield for when the top is down (most of the time, for me) ... and a side mount. It's nice to see more than one liking the one Herb posted from Ebay. I saw that .. wondered if I really wanted to pop a hole in my stanchion, on the 'maybe' of a good mirror. If it makes for a solid mirror mount, though ... I guess I wouldn't mind!
Were all the top center mounted ones so small? Seems like I could probably figure out a way to put on a bigger mirror, but wouldn't want it to look too wacky, though.
Can't have too many mirrors ... unless they wiggle too much!
