Won't affect me at all as long as their catalogue continues to have those great illustrations. The pictures make it a handy reference work.

Won't affect me either. They pissed me off years ago and I've had nothing else to do with them. Will I give the new owners another chance? I suppose I could, but why? I'm pretty happy with Lang's and Snyders.

I was getting ready to place an order. Now I don't think I want to be the first on the block to test the waters.

I find that Langs, Chaffins & Snyders have everything I need & they don't take a week or ten days to ship. IMHO the only way for Macs service is to go is up. I haven't ordered from them for years and years.

I'm with Hal on this one. Rudest, most condescending people on the phone I have ever dealt with (to be read: stereotypical New Yorkers). Their attitude was that they were doing me a favor by allowing me to spend my money with them. "Send us your money, just don't bother us with questions about what you're buying" was the impression I got from them. My mercifully few phone calls with them years ago always left me with the uneasy feeling that I was somehow intruding on their time and bothering them by trying to buy something. eMail contact with them was equally unsatisfying. I'm still waiting four years later for a reply to my eMail inquiring about a catalog part they sold. After not receiving a reply two weeks later, I went shopping elsewhere and never went back. Yeah, they sure wanted MY business! Most people in the hobby who shop with their heads instead of their wallets won't have anything to do with Mac's, either. The mere mention of the company name rarely fails to elicit a snicker from antique Ford owners, who have had similar unsettling experiences with them and likewise no longer buy from Mac's. I'll continue spending my several thousands of yearly antique car dollars elsewhere with vendors who appreciate my patronage, thank you. And I advise newcomers to the hobby to do the same. No great loss to the antique car community, IMHO. My question is - what took them so d*mned long to sell out? 'Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks. Support Synder's, Langs, Chaffins, Fun Projects and Brattons (for Model A's) instead. The owners DO care and it comes across to the customer. Why continue sticking your private parts into a meat grinder with Mac's?
Thanks a lot, "ex trooper"! Now you got my indignation up and blood boiling all over again by bringing this subject to our attention! :-)
Marshall

Did they sell just the T parts part or the hole modern (post 1927)parts business? It dosn't matter to me after my last attempt to do business with them a few years ago.

"I'm still waiting four years later for a reply to my eMail inquiring about a catalog part they sold. "

And you will still be waiting because email is the least reliable communication ever invented, Ever! Hand written notes in a bottle have a better success rate.

Bob -- Mac's sells T, A, and V-8 parts. I got good service a few years ago when I ordered some V-8 parts I couldn't find anywhere else. There probably is more money to be made in the A and V-8 stuff than the T parts. Like most of the others here, I haven't ordered any T parts from them in a long time.

According to what I read about the sale its looks to me things will be all good. Higher prices? Maybe but at least it went to car guys and not to China.
Past service from Macs? All OK for me.
I cant figure out why but the Vendors have all given me good service.
Macs is or was the biggest T vendor out there as they have parts for most all Fords through the 50's and maybe beyond.
Now they will be bigger and we can still have a choice who to buy parts from. Maybe the other vendors will have as nice a cataloug as Macs had but thats OK as I will but my parts from all of them from time to time to keep the hobby going.
