These can't be that hard to find, are they? I went through both; Lang's, Mac's, Snyder's and I can't find the castle nuts for mounting the 1915-25 headlight stems only the 26-27 bar mounting sets are shown.
What else went with those castle nuts? A split or maybe a flat washer? I ask because my two swap meet lights had no nuts or mounting hardware. Jimmy

They sell them. That's the same castle nut as on bottom end of the steering shaft.
The thread is 1/2-20, like the steering shaft nut as Tom says. Do you see holes? Sometimes they have sheared off cotter pins in them like this:
If your holes are filled like this you have to punch out the debris.
I'm not going to take the time right now for a search to confirm it, but I believe the slots in the nut should be round on the bottom, not square like the ones they sell now.
If you're trying to be T era correct, split washers are a no-no. A cotter pin through the castle nut and the hole performs that function. If you can't get it to line up when tight, you can take up some space with a thin flat washer. I won't tell anybody.
Thanks Tom & Steve.
Thanks for that very helpful info.
Yes, I now have clean cotter pin holes. It took some doing. Kroil, O/A torch & a good Starrett pin drift did the trick. I found a 1/2" x 20 thread chasing die in my Dad's old stuff and I was able to get the peened threads back into service.

I found the correct nut at Langs in the nut and bolt section. That was about 2 years ago. They are in the general fastner section I believe.
I just looked up the info on castle nuts. Round bottoms on the slots are probably correct.

Steve,
Larry & R.V have done what I haven't. Sat down and rooted through the actual drawings. My problem is I have to send for them when I do research, and that tends to get a little pricey It would not surprise me that the original drawings show rounded bottom nuts, and also would not surprise me that cars actually differed
Like many other topic projects that are 90% done and waiting for me to get serious to finish knowing that half the time the final pickles in the bottom of the barrel are going to be stealth submarines anyway (always true with the T's), I've started down on the 'nut' path several times.
This chart is not yet complete, may yet need a revision or two, but it also includes a transcribed 'cut plate' from the oldest known Ford Drafting Room Standards that I have been able to find. (I don't have an actual date, but based on other data found at the same time I suspect it was late brass era/early black era Standard when published.)
FWIW, I think that I'll start to share this stuff and where I'm at on it...haha...I sometimes forget now what I did 15 minutes ago
To all...find some obvious errors? Input help and corrections always appreciated.
sorry guys, have yet to actually figure out why sometimes my graphics just go and 'supersize'

FWIW the pic you uploaded was over 1700 pixels wide. I resized it to 1000 pixels wide which seems to be about right for a large picture on the forum.
if i can be of help let me know.
