In 1965 our eighty year old neighbor gave me this small engine that had belonged to her late husband. I has a Pat 10-1909 disk on it. I have never been able to find out anything about it, anyone know about this? Maybe it was a prototype mini T engine.
Thanks for the help.
Mark,
It is a reversible self starting steam engine. Do you have a complete patent date or patent number?
Jim
Is it a steam engine?
Manuel in Oz
Steam engine w/pump.
What Jim said. Wouldn't there most likely be a patent number and date stamped on it somewhere. With those, you can find the patent.

You will have to register but someone there might have some information.
Thanks for the info. The grand kids must have been in my office. I can't find the patent plate.
Mark I will try the sight you posted.
Here are some patents that may be connected to the device in your photo.
Mostly based on the October 1909 patent date and the use of steam.
The first on the list was applied for in Aug 1908 and issued Oct, 1909
while the other two were in the same date range with the same inventor.

And do I see 3 Robertson fasteners holding the valve/inlet plate to the vertical cylinder ??
A little Canadian aftermarket parts supply eh.
That looks like a gas valve of the type used in houses for gas lighting on top. I'd be willing to say that this is a shop project done by some student back then.
