You look through it at the ground to see if you're moving. :-)

Kenny. On a factory floorboard for my 1926 coupe, there were a total of (5) holes: (3) elongated pedal holes; (1) elongated hole at the 7:00 position from the pedal holes for the emergency brake lever, and south of the pedals, (1) 1 1/4" round hole for the floor starter button. There is also a half hole at the upper edge of the floor in front of the passenger for the choke rod, but it is not a complete hole so the floor board can be removed without having to pull the choke rod.

Over the years, through many owners, any variety of holes could have been drilled through the wooden floor boards to allow for a wide variety of accessories, available at the time. Exactly where is the hole? If it is to the right of the pedals, it could have been for a speedometer cable a vacuum line for a long gone accessory or some other accessory that is no longer on your car.

On my floorboard, there is a square hole for a grate at the passenger's feet, over the exhaust pipe, to allow the heat from the exhaust pipe to enter the car. Can you provide a picture? Jim Patrick

Kenny, if these are a set of new floorboards you purchased from one of the parts suppliers the supplier to the vendor may have copied the floorboards from a set that came from a car that had the hole for a specific purpose.
This happens sometimes because they assume that "the part or parts were all the same".
It aint so!
It may not be the suppliers fault putting in an extra hole but it would show there is still somthing to learn about Model T's.

I'm glad somebody gave Kenny a real answer!

I'm sure he was thinking we're all wise a**es.

Good luck with the new floorboards Kenny.

The 1" diameter hole in the center of the #2 floor board is a finger hole to make it easier to remove the floor boards - just like RV Anderson stated. It's not an extra hole - it's suppose to be there - it's on the drawing.

You're right, Schuh. A serious question deserves a real answer. I'm sorry for the flip response.

David Sosnoski has done alot of valuable research for Lang's on the various floor boards of the many years and styles of Model T's so that Lang's gets their reproduction floorboards right. He and I corresponded a couple of years ago when he heard I had an original 1926 Fordor floorboard of which I sent him photos and a scale drawing, so, in my book, he's an authority on Model T floorboards. I was going to post it was to let the water out for those who left the top down. But I won't.
My previous post was sincere though.

Cool, I was just wondering the same thing the other day when I went out and fired the T up. I thought maybe it was a knot hole someone poked out.
