I sold my 1st T to buy my 2nd T ...It was a Tudor that needed alot of work to get running right so I had a ton of time and alot of sweat but I had to sell my baby do to needing money...
Well the guy I sold it to has a exporting business and the other day I happened to be on ebay and seen my baby on there....
WOW I hated to see it on there.....I know its not mine anymore but you just hate to see the car you put all that time into on there.....Were planing to sell our house next year ....When that happens I'm going to get a brass .. Well the good thing is that its going to stay in the USA...
I miss my T...sniff...sniff..
Hello Eric:
Well I started a note to you and the modem shut off so here I go again.
It is better on ebay that going to Nigeria where they might use it to sleep in or run drugs or marrjane.. I hate to see those Model T's get cut up and made into those T'Buckets where only the tube part is used. I like the "ORIGINAL" WAY of fixing up a car. When I say original back the way Henry made it.
Happy T'ing.

That's what I was thinking Bill..I cant stand when people say its all original and there's a two page list of whats wrong......The big one for me is a nickel rad shell that's been painted black or missing the bottom strip 26-27 and its never been painted...lol
Clearly it was not your baby or you would of never sold it or looked that way as a means to make money at all. Hope you learn a lesson here. Sorry to sound harsh but when you sell something its theres to keep enjoy or to set fire and throw it of a cliff. My pride and joy is my 15 roadster on my profile it does have value but at the same time it completely worthless I will not sell it and with that fact i will never have to worry about its unforeseen future.
LOL...That did sound harsh....
Well I'm sure we All sold something we wish we didn't...
but I did it for my family's and I would do it again for the family...
I'll get another one by spring...O-yea thats a nice 1915 ya got there..
Eric, it goes both ways. We have seen awesome but expensive cars leave Denmark for the US and then one of my buddies imports vintage cars from the US to Europe for a living.
One of the largest collections was spit apart this summer and about 10 - 15% stayed in Denmark - the rest (all the expensive) went abroad - also some to the US.
I miss my 1970 GTO rag-top but I LOVE my T's!
Eric i'm sorry that was a little too harsh, guess it struck a nerve. A little history, I sold my first T thinking I needed a little cash to a person who proudly told me his real intentions after the fact was to build it in to a clown car with off set hubs so that it wobbled going down parade route. This made me mad and upset as the future of my T would be viewed as a joke. The man would not take the money and I never saw my t again. Bottom line is never know where or what will happen it your car after its sold. And you have to move on.
I miss My '56 Ford Sunliner.2 tone Blue with a blue top, cruiser skirt, full length drag pipes, 3/4 cam and dual quad carbs. I traded it for a new '59 Chebby Impala. Wish I had that one TOOOOOOOOOO.
I miss my 1910 Touring I sold back to Mr. ........ 30 days after I paid him to restore it!
In , most likely the 1st week of October 53 I was home for a weekend pass from Ft Leonard, during basic training. I had gone to see my then girlfriend and on the way to my Grandma's place where my car was store I threw a rod threw the block, gone engine the, had to be towed home to Grandma's house. Was able to get a friend to hopefully get it going. Never saw the car again, it may have gone to the scrapper, don't know for sure.
It was a 1934 $door Ford, boy would I love to have that car today, but hind sight is 20/20.

Well here we go again.
I was home for a weekend pass from Ft. Leonard during basic training in October 53. I had gone to see my then girlfriend and on the was back to my Grandma's house I threw a rod and that ended that engine, ran low on oil. I got a friend to take the car to his house and if he could get going it was his, never saw the car again, boy would I love to have that car today hind sight is 20/20. It could be fixed up and would look great, as it was stock to the Flat head engine.
The seat were that fuzzy stuff, spare time on the rear good rubber then, sealed beam lights, gas heater, radio from a 30's something, dual rear taillights. OOOOHHHHHHH well so be it.
DOUBLE POST SORRYEEEEE
I'll probably never sell my model T. But like almost anything, never say never as you never know what circumstance may force your hand.
I have owned many, many cars(several DOZEN). My goal in life is to drive as many interesting cars as I can before I kick it.
But the one I wish I had kept was my fist 69 GTO, 4-speed car. It was a case of "divorce forces sale". My 68 GTO convertible ran a close second but it was an automatic so for me, not nearly as desireable.
The ad for my 69 Goat when I sold it in the auto trader around 1995. (My only pic...sob)
I miss my 1964 Ford Thunderbolt, "The Country Boy", originally owned and raced by Jim Cochrane from Decatur, Alabama, but as is the case, Barrett-Jackson auctions pumped up the prices on factory race cars like mine and I couldn't afford to keep it. I know I'll never own the cars that I have owned in the past unless I win the Powerball.
Hey, they could have bought your Model T, Parted it out and then told you by doing so they were keeping a lot of other Model T's on the road. Guys that do that crap lose track of how many they take off the road to do it. What a crock that is.
I knew I wasn't the only one..lol....I was talking to my father in law and was joking with him saying it was like seeing the wife or an ex-girl friend "when younger" with another guy...lol..
I've have almost 13 different cars and I'm only 36yrs and this was the only one where I was like "wow" when I seen it.... My 26 coupe went to 2 guys who restore so I was happy that....I say this one and my very 1st car a 66 chevy II that my dad and I got that I had to sell to get a family car to get to work etc are the ones I will miss..
Ah Mike, nice of u to bring that up, brings me more business, first i keep track of how many i part out. and yes i sell parts to others to keep theirs on the road, or to build one from a old fence row car. u dont relize how many people on this forum that buy parts from me, but thats between me and them. but u can sure buy the T's that i part out and do with them as u wish. by the way my ebay handle is gunman63.but to be trueful all the cars i part out, are not restoreable, or would be so high in price to restore, theres no way anyone could afford to restore them
forgot to add, at last i look the green tudor is at $8600, nice looking car from pictures, but still needs a interior, theres at least another 2 grand, makes a expensive car, nice car but i dont feel worth that amount.
In 1996, thinking I was tired of my Model T which I had had since 1970 and took 2 years to restore, I sold my '26 coupe for $8,000.00 to a snowbird neighbor from Maine who lived in Florida during the cold months. At the end of the season, he put it on a trailer and hauled it up to Maine. It was really sad to see her disappear down the street thinking and thinking I would never see her again. He did take great care of her and even won several shows up in Maine. In 2001, I heard he died of blood cancer so I wrote a letter to his widow to express my condolences. She wrote back and asked if I'd like to buy back my coupe for the same price he paid. I said yes and when it got warmer, in 2002, drove the 1500 mile up there, rented a U-haul and hauled her back. I'll never sell her again. I was lucky to get her back. Jim Patrick
Well good morning Mike. I know there's a lot of people who appreciate the business you do. And I suppose there's a few who don't. But apparently I've struck a nerve with you. I don't know why you took my remarks so personal. There's been a couple of times you've come after me and I've never once pointed at you or said your name. I simply stated a fact and gave an opinion. You've got to understand, there are model t hobbyists who would gladly put an interior in that car just too have it. Even at $8600.00. Everything doesn't have to have a price on it. If anyone who owns a model t in this day and age, is restoring it to make money, they're barkin' up the wrong tree. And if they're hiring someone else to restore their model t, in order to resell it for any kind of a profit, they're nuts. My old '26 sedan is probably one of the biggest piles of junk on the road, and people will probably look at it that way, but it'll be a bad day when I sell it for any price. It means that much to me. And there's no way anyone can tell me, taking a good car off the road and parting it out for a profit, is good. But you're right, once you buy it, it's yours to do with what you want. So keep up the good work. Part cars, like the green tudor, out and keep taking them off the road. Your able to justify it in your mind that it's the right thing to do. It kind of makes me think of someone that would harvest organs from a sick man while he's still alive because he might die. And you know yourself, if you could lowball the owner of that tudor and buy it from him, you'd be parting it out as I'm writing this. And from the sound of it, all it needs is an interior. Hell I just watched a guy drop $3200.00 into his Model T and there's no way in hell his car was as nice as the green tudor. But he's an enthusiast, a hobbyist, it wasn't the money that was important. It was more important to get his beloved Model T back on the road.
That's not a car I'd part out. For sure. On the other hand I totally agree with Mike P. in that there are T's that (final price wise) aren't worth re-doing. Mike G's point is also well taken. To some it doesn't matter. Probably why there's so many still out there. I'm a hobbyist but I tend to move on and my cars are no where near some of the "barn finds" guys post here. I know I'll get tired of it at some point and move so but saleability is always in the fore front. Their better than when I got 'em but when it's time to go that's it. No large outlays for me. No $ in it with T's.
nope no nerve with me, but if some one writes about me, they can use my name doesnt bother me. But what i was stating with the $8600 car and maybe i didnt make it clear, sometimes i know what im saying , but others dont, LOL. is at $8600 and then a interior, u could find a T just as nice, or nicer, already done, for less, but to each his own, and no u cant make money restoring T's. and location is a big factor in price as well. oh and i beleive in harversting organs as well, but cars and humans 2 completely different things
The cars you guys ridicule on ebay as "not even a parts car" are better than the cars i start with. And you guys think your time is worth $1,000 an hour where mine is $5 so i can spent as much time as i need.
Dog gone it Mike P you called me pretty good on that one. My organ donor example was a desperate attempt to try to get farther under your skin but as usual you're pretty darn resilient. But I claim some points for creativity. Besides I don't want to push it too hard, I may never know when you might be the only guy that has the part I need. How'd you like my BS in our last little go around about stupid starting around hiway 2 and going to the canadian border. I tried to be careful with that one because I might have members of the club I'm in and I don't want to insult them. And of course having been raised just south of Grand Rapids I didn't want to push it too much further. Your a good one to give a hard time to because like I said you're resilient. You've had all the crap before and made it through in good shape. It's like you've got Rhino hide. But now I've set precedent I'll have to keep up my facade and keep giving you a bad time. Have a great day and be on guard I might not be done with you yet. LOL
PS: Your little line about me getting bounced from a different forum stung pretty bad. But it made me aware you're paying attention.
:-)
Boys, you can't rescue all of them! I've bought parts from mike before and probably will again. Even Bill Gates couldn't buy but so many and he would be broke. KB
Keith, I've talked to a lot of guys who've bought from Mike and honestly, I've heard few negative comments. I know that Mike is simply trying to make a buck just like so many more of us. When he sells us parts from these running cars, they're usually working parts because of where they come from. Mike's ok for what he does. He's convinced me he's performing a service for the rest of us. But I can't help treating him bad because he's from Northern Minnesota and I'm not sure that's ever good. I was born 100 feet straight south of the Mississippi River in Grand Rapids Minnesota. Less than 100 miles straight east of Shevlin. I was born in Iron country but Mike was born in farm country. He doesn't have any iron at all where he's from. So I'm obligated to turn my nose into the air and show my prejudices. You know what I mean, it's like having one guy living on Snob Hill and the other guy living in Skunk Hollow. Haha Seriously though I think Mikes just fine. But I'm still not going to let up. LOL
Hate to tell u this, I wasn't born in Minnesota.
Looks like he is getting $8700 or more for it. Reserve is gone.
Eric they are still a lot of them in hiding, here's some I stumbled across last week.... Looks like it's going to be parking space making time again !
.
What? Your not even a Minnesota citizen? Now I'm just disgusted. Don't tell me North Dakota? Please don't even say that. Nope, I know what you're an Iowegian ain't ya'. Oh well, if it's No Dak or Iowa at least you're a flat lander. :-). Are you at Owatonna tomorrow?
didnt say i wasnt a minnesota citizen, dont have to be born here for that, but your all wrong on the rest.
nope not going to the swap, i dont like swaps that have less parts and cars than i do, LOL. u can buy the cars and parts, and do with them as u wish, since they will be yours. I dont like traveling 6 hours one way and not knowing if anything is good there, i gotta go kill some more deer anyways
Steve those are a really nice find..Every now and then I'll see a T for a good price and other times you'll see some guy who thinks that he has a $15,000 car....
Also I just look at my old one on Ebay and he not giving a title with it.....The story is when I got the T and switched the title I never looked at the vin number ...
The guy I got it from I knew for 2 years...heck we meant because of the T's...anyway the last 3 numbers were different on the frame to the title
but the numbers were hard to read on the frame....he kept saying ah man it's going to be at least $500 to fix's this and I got to have it...I said we'll split it and took $200 off...and now its just a bill of sale....AAAAHHH....I kind of knew he would do that!...O-well live and learn...lol..
Sounds like he was trying to squeeze every last cent he could out of you, ol'buddy... I guess we've all been there before, shouldn't have give in, but we did anyway...!
It happens .
This fellow has 3-4 T's plus a model A and says he just can't get around good enough to mess with them anymore, I think I know how he feels. I thought about buying them for the last couple days, but on the other hand all I seem to find time to do lately is work and sleep... Heck, I may sell out too we just don't have time to fool with what we have either.
Hey Mike, how'd you do deer hunting? I understand not wanting to drive for six hours. And for the somewhat limited amount of stuff that was there you probably wouldn't have found anything you absolutely needed. I bought a couple of pretty good axles and a new set of bows for my touring top and that was pretty much it. I drove about half the distance you would have had too. But the trip down wasn't for the parts. It was to meet other Model T enthusiasts. I was able to talk to old friends and some new ones and even talked to a guy I sparred with almost as much as you. I gotta admit, and I've known it for sometime so it comes as no surprise I'm a smarta_s and I suppose there's a few people on here that probably get pretty tired of it but I really don't mean any harm. I've found most of the people I've met over the last year or so that own Model T's are pretty great folks. And today they proved it. It was easy to talk to a lot of the people from the T Totalers and though I didn't join today I'm still giving it some consideration. I was able to meet Derek Kiefer today. He was carrying his kid around. His dad was there with him. Nice guy. Wish I could afford his roadster pick-up. At the price he was asking I thought it was well worth it. I figure I'll be back there next year again. And one of these days I'm going to get up and meet you too Mr pederson. But for now I'm not done investigating you, muah hahahahahaha. God bless, Mike
