i am about to start installing the top on my 23 touring the car came with a top kit but no info on how to install it do any one have some instructions or is there a video on how to do this
Do you know who made the top kit? If it is from Cartouche I have the instructions
i got the car from an estate sale it came with a kit for the top but no paper work or nothing saying who made it but any info would be good
The Cartouche instructions would probably be similar. Also the JV Group has a video if you can obtain a copy of that. It would probably NOT match your top exactly – but it would be informative.
Please see Phil Mino’s web site for distances for setting up the top bows. Remember that Canadian one-man tops were slightly different from the USA tops (I.e. USA had one style while Ford of Canada had several styles until they settled on a single style top bow/iron style).

I looked but I did not find any step by step procedures. From memory, I think the MTFCI Tech Pages used to have some good photos of a top installation, but I cannot locate those now. Also the Model T Ford Restoration Handbook by Leslie R. Henry (published by Clymer in the past) has a good article on cutting and installing a touring top on pages 86 to 95 and how to make the top boot on page 96. It is available from the vendors as well as many of the local clubs have a library you may borrow books from.
Respectfully submitted,

Lay out the kit and send me 1 photo each of the inside and outside of the top deck. I've worked on a couple 23-25 touring from Carters and should be able to ID one of theirs just by looking at the top deck. They've been making them the same for the past few decades and were the top of choice amongst many hobbyists (for quality and price) up until about five years ago when they got hard to obtain. Send me a pm as sometimes I don't always check back on forum threads I post to.
