I have no connection except I would like to know what it is. Never seen anything like it.

When people on Ebay don't know what something is, they say it is for a Model T.
I have no idea what that thing is, either.
It was replaced early on by those wooden batteries we see so often on tBay, I was told.
"I was told" really means "that is FACT".
It looks like parts to an old electric fuel pump. I can see an armature inside what may be a germinate magnet. The outer can is missing so this is the guts. That's my best guess.
Germinate? Where did that come from? It's supposed to be permanent magnet.
I believe it may be exactly what he says it is... I think it runs against the side wall of the tire and is missing a bracket. Now the real challenge: can someone post an original advertisement for one?
Catastrophic converter
Adam, like the generator used on a bicycle?
Allan from down under.
C'mon you guy's it's obvious what it is? I've never seen such a bunch with such limited knowledge. Back in the day we use to use these all the time. I can't believe you guys haven't all got a stack of them in one corner of your shop. Geez.
That is an inline exciter for the magnetic drive on the early cow magnet Fords. This was a popular option on these cars, however it lost favor after the inventor was mysteriously killed during a road trip through the oil rich state of Oklahoma in 1913. Indeed it is a rare device worth much more than the asking price, but should not be restored for the danger of retaliation from the big oil capitalists presently running our country.
I think the bicycle suggestion would be my guess too. It also looks like its missing it's brushes. Looks like an oiler on the side of the drive shaft.
I think Adam may be right.
He said his "car go to guy" told him about this. Please! Someone ask this seller who this car whiz is, so we can spare us the catastrophe of ever asking this whiz about our Model T's!
It's a shock absorber for a high speed ...
