I have a 1924 c cab body in very good shape that I would like to sell. Both doors, top, a shortened windshield and a bed that I do not know the vintage of. Does anyone know what a fair price to ask is?
You need to help us by posting pictures. We are not psychic. A lot would depend on condition of metal.
To add to what Terry wrote, the condition of the metal on the bottom of the cab, all the way around, will make a big difference on the value. Rust on the door bottoms, bottom of the back of the cab, or cowl bottoms will significantly affect the value.
David - the "shortened" windshield is from a car. The TT C Cab windshield is about 2 inches higher than the car windshield.
Hope this helps....
Keith
I,m Still looking for a late 25/26 C-Cab Bottom in restoreable shape in the Northwest. I have looked at a few with the really bad bottoms but haven't found one yet the is repairable. If you guys know of one near me send me a PM. Fred
What "bottom" are you talking about Fred? The subframe?
Yes thanks Ken, it is the subframes also consisting of the steel riser brackets that hold the sheet metal and the doors on. I have several Cabs that need them. Fred
That's a tough one Fred. No one reproduces the subrails and I doubt anyone would disassemble a good body to sell the pieces but you never know. Replacing subrails is no easy job and alignment is critical since the body is built off of it. You would need a body jig and the riveting tools. Most T owners wouldn't likely attempt subrail replacement.
Your best bet would be to locate someone that does sheet metal fabrication with the tools and facilities to reproduce the parts. The metal subrails are just basically "top-hat" forms on the Model T--Not like the formed Model A rails.
Ah, if only you were closer. The alternative is to keep looking for a good body.
Or find one upside down somewhere, where bottom is still good, I found a 26-7 touring that way, one side excellent one side gone, bottom excellent, so we grafted on another firewall and side and restored it many yrs ago
