This past Friday a dedication here in Tulsa OK of a 20'000 lb, fourteen foot high statue of "East meets West". Yes it is Model T. Many of our club members attended the celebration. This link should take you to additional pictures,http://www.flickr.com/photos/82892115@N00/ You may need to copy link and paste

I really liked the grasshopper stuck on the radiator, just think when farmer Brown bought a Model T it was probably the first time he achieved "Bug splat speed"

Mike,

Thanks for posting this. I found the pictures very interesting. That's quite a statue, what is it made out of? Also, there are a couple of pictures of an interesting looking book cover (Route 66: The People - The Places - The Dream) and several of the book pages. Do you know anything about the book and where it is available?

You were correct, I had to copy and paste the link. The @N00/ at the end of the posted link has to be copied and pasted with the first part of the link or it will not work.

Charlie

Wow - What an amazing sculpture!
I tried to make a direct link.
If this works just click on the 'Tiny url' and then you can scroll thru the photos by clicking on "Newer" at the top of your screen.

(Even if it works, I'm not sure if the link will survive once changes are made to the album.)

That's remarkable. A lot of talent and work went into that.

Shown is Cyrus Stevens Avery stepping onto the running board. According to the family members the statue is of an event that happen when an oilfield waggon and the Avery's touring met here in Tulsa.
It is made of bronze.
Google his name there is a lot of information to read.

If you go to Art's tinyurl, do not stop at the first photo. Click on older and eventually you will see more photos from different angles as the sculpture was installed.

I have an idea, I will take my car paint it to look just like this and replace the bronze one!

Hummm. How will I move the bronze one:-)

I hate to break everybody's bubble but the sculpture of the T is incorrect.

No oil puddle!

It would be neat if the T guys in the area would pour a little oil underneath the T each time they visit.
If y'all do, be sure to use something like olive oil with a little (food coloring) so as not to flip out the enviro-mental-ists.

If I lived near by I'd covertly keep a puddle underneath it. I can see it now...Unexplained Mysteries on the History channel airing a segment on "the mysterious leaking statue".

Hmm, well then you're going to have to add a little pile of "horse exhaust" under the horse too, for realism!
:-)
