I'm replacing my missing roadster top bows and sockets, so I have the opportunity to adjust the total height to suit my own height. How much head clearance should I allow? That is, the ideal space from the bottom of the middle bow to the top of the driver's head.
Thanks,
Phil
Anything other than original will only devalue the car. You don't say what year, but the curved metal bows are already fixed.
Perhaps OT, but my car is a 1913 Metz. It's similar to a Model T in design. Could anyone tell me what top bow height Ford used (measurement from seat to bow)?
Phil
I see the height from where the top iron connects to the seat is 32". Could someone tell me the distance from the seat cushion to the top iron connection?

P. Jamison I'd also like that info as I'm putting a 13 Metz model 22 rdster body on a T accy car, I have NOS bows, no wood bows. I have a few photo's of a Metz 13 rdster taken in the Petit Jean Ark meuseum (sp) several years ago, I don't know whether the car is still displayed or not
John... I took pictures of the 1913 Metz 22 sold by Bonhams last month in Philadelphia. Go here to see them:

On this original car, the height from the seat to the middle bow is 38". The I.D. of the bows is 40.75".
