So this spot light was in my fordor when I bought it. My question is, was this a mounted light or hand held ? If hand held how was the power connected ? Any info would be appreciated...thx
Dan
It was definitely mounted and here's why. Notice that there's only a single wire coming out the back (at least that's how the picture looks).
Unless another wire has broken off, the ground had to be through the mounting bracket.
Because the mounting bracket was designed to swivel you may not however, get a good ground that way. Better to install a second black wire as a ground.

I don't think the wire is original Anyway...
I don't recognize the light but it would have either been hardwired through an aftermarket switch...or...had a tail on it like the base of the light.
The standard (later) Ford dash light would have had the bulb taken out, and the base pushed in and twisted to lock.
No ignore the wire, I tested it to see if it lit. I have no signs of where it might have mounted which is the mystery...
Dan
On an open car it might have mounted to the windshield hinge bolt. Just a thought.

Don,
I have the same spotlight on Sue's 24 touring. It has a clamp that clamps over the windshield stanchion. I'll grab a photo and send it to you.

Thanks Tom, so i'm leaning toward this thing being a hand-held....
