The History Channel program mentioned Fords early racing success. While the cars were incorrect, Ford actually had many early racing wins that boosted the Ford "brand".
Following are two examples, a couple of pics of the 999/Arrow racers. Also a description of the 24 hour race won by a Model K in 1907, beating several "elite" cars including a Pope and Thomas.
Finally, frank Kulick was the chief driver for Ford mentioned in the 1907 article below. Later, Kulick was seriously injured racing a Ford six cylinder (K based, last pic below) racer. After the accident. Henry Ford suspended Fords very successful racing program for several years.
