What pressure is used and safe to test a early cylinder head for cracks? I want to have a shop test for cracks and pressure test a head, what advice do the T guys have for the early engines?
Thanks Dave

Get it magnafluxed, no pressure needed.

David: After having problems with hidden cracks in blocks I made a way the pressure check engines before I rebuild one. I use no more than 5 to 7 PSI water pressure. I let the engine sit for 24 hours and you can see where the leaks are. Dan

Never tested any block or head for cracks other than to just look them over. If I can't see it, it ain't cracked. So far so good. But, if I were more curious, I would do what Larry Smith suggests.
