Hello everyone, I just read a book for Model A construction, repair and operation by Victor Page and I really liked it. I noticed there are many books put out by him and I'd like to get a copy of his Model T book, but there seems to be a lot of versions on Amazon. Any advice on which one is the best copy? I figured I'd ask because I don't want to buy a badly copied version, an original would be great but they seem pretty expensive. Thanks!
If you are working on a Model A,then be sure to get one that represents the year of the car. Paige had many books. I have a couple of his and the oldest is 1914.
I will have a Model A at some point, but right now I am looking for the right book for my 1925 TT.
I personally don't think Paige's books are that great. A good shop manual and a Dykes are much better. You will need a 14 or 15 th edition Dykes.
You can download one for free on Google book and save it on your computer or on a CD. Once the link opens, click on the "cog" in the upper right hand corner and you can download the book as a pdf.

The Victor Page Model T book is not rare - they are plentiful. I wouldn't pay more than $30 for one. There are always a few copies on ebay at any given moment. I regularly see them at swap meets.

Also, my opinion is that the Victor Page Model T book is a text book and not really a service manual.

Search www.abe.com with terms (Author) Page and (Title) The Model T Ford Car and you will find many reprints and originals of this book cheap.

Ron;
I haven't seen any reprints, but years ago, I was in a buying frenzy and bought everyone I seen, if the price was right. I seen them from 50 cents to $50.00. Good condition to not so good condition. My Grandpa gave me one when I was in my early teens(50's), which got me hooked on Model T's. I have several copies and additions
It is also available (several issues) on Barnes and Noble (bn.com) for free. You can get it as an e-pub which reads much better than a PDF. I keep one on my Nook. Unfortunately Jack is right they are pretty basic and you really want a shop manual if you are going to work on the car. Page books are really the most fun if you buy an original.
I once was out in my Rusty 1927 pickup and a fellow runs up to me in an excited tizzy. He has the perfect book for me he wants me to have... stay right here and I'll go a block home and get it. Turned out to be a Page 1915 and he wanted me to have it for $15. Although that is a way high price for a Page, it had all it's pages and the copy I already had was missing one page so I effused over it and gave him the $15 and told him how wonderful he is... He drove off with a big smile, I drove off with a book I didn't really want.
I downloaded two free books off bn.com, one was for the car and the other for car and tractor or truck (don't remember which) They only take a few seconds to download and are free, so what the heck.
They make interesting coffee table books. The old patina an original has is really nice. If you could find a reprint in great condition I would think it could fetch upwards of a buck or two.
If you go to this link you have 5 free versions to choose from. These e-books are worth every penny you spend on them. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/victor-page-model-t?store=ebook&keyword=victor+page+model+t
IMHO, TH
Thanks for the advice. I do already have a shop manual, I just like the way page writes and the illustrations are nice. I think if I do get any page books i'll just wait to find original ones since they look much better than the reprints. The service manual I bought is a reprint and i'm not very happy with it, and the pictures are very dark. Seems like a copy of a copy of a copy...
"Seems like a copy of a copy of a copy..."
Sean, you are correct. The original Service Manuals are very nice and worth hunting for. The illustrations are clear and the text is larger and clearer than the reprints.
