Hello Gentlemen, my appreciation in advance, for the time you spend in entertaining this question. My Father in law is on his second Model T rebuild, We have sent Lang's Gift cards and tools so far, in support of his latest man puzzle project. Recently I have been looking at Model T Documentaries, books, and memorabilia to fill in some slots for this coming Christmas season . . . and was hoping for some input, suggestions, ideas from folks who are as into this endeavor as he is.
Another model T!you can't have to many. KB
A good carburetor -- something other than the wick in a puddle ones.
Alaska? . Tire chains. Weed is the most popular brand, I believe. You should be able to find them used, or NOS, New Old Stock, on ebay.
A Model T shirt from one of the clubs or museum, a Model T wine bottle stopper, brass step plate, the list goes on and on.....
Good direction.
He lives in NH and we'll be visiting for Christmas.
I remember a story of his where he got caught in a snow storm driving his 1919 Depot hack (Sp?) up to a state fair in Maine, though I would guess he probably keeps a better eye on the weather these days.
I like the idea of brass step plates and the t-shirts.
He is rebuilding a 1926 roadster, are these step plates year or model specific?
What does a good carb go for? Would this be something he could pick up at Lang's?
For a 1926 T I would get him the chrome step plates instead of brass. Would match the radiator shell and headlight rims.
Motometer, brass year plate for radiator.
The best gift of all is family. Your visit will probably mean more to him then anything. Take photos, record his voice and ask about family history. Material objects are bought and sold everyday family is only here for a short time.
One thing my wife did many years ago was to take my parents and her parents to a photo studio and have their pictures taken. She then made copies for all my brothers and sisters of my parents and made copies of her parents for her brothers and sisters. It's the best gift I ever received.
Very true, a sentiment well received. My in laws have said this on at least a couple of occasions. As gifts go, I guess it is the gesture of taking a person's interest to heart and from this experience being able to learn from them and their interests. I found some pretty cool stuff on the MTFCA site last night and think that I'll spend time seeing where his project is before deciding what to get him.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep them in mind as I get to see how far things have progressed since last I saw it.
My two front teeth.
