Some thing I found of interest while checking out the front end on my 26. A over size spindle bolt and the castle nut is tapered like a wheel nut to fit counter sunk in the beam axle.
Seems to be a good fix to not have to rebuild the holes in the axle, I don't see any thing like it in the vendors catalogs but some one must have made this type of repair kit some time in the long life of the T's.
Kerry -- I encountered one of those a while back as well. It was an aftermarket fix for worn-out spindles/axles, and they seemed to work pretty well. Seems like it was a Stevens product. Someone here has some of the parts/tools to accomplish that fix. Dan Hatch, maybe?
Is there an easy way to repair worn top holes in front axles, so as to use standard king pins, we've torn down 4-5 front axles recently trying to find a front axle w/ good top hole, as we are rebuilding front ends at club meetings
John: Sounds like a job for STEVENS FRONT AXLE TOOL. Do a search on the forum for this. I am getting a new batch of top reamers made, will be ready after the New Year. Or you can ship the axles to me and pick them up at Chickasha. Dan
