This is not Model T but trying to learn from any one that has cleaned and conditioned old leather.
I have a 1903 Velie Buggy that is a wonderful survivor, how do I clean and soften- condition the original leather and top? Even the bottom cushion is nice no damage from rats or wear. I only get one chance to do it right and do not want to screw it up.There are a few early Ts and pre Model T cars that have been left original ,seeking some advice.
Thanks Model T Ford Club! Dave

My original 1907 Autocar has all the original leather in it and when I got the car I cleaned it lightly with saddle soap and then softened it with Dr Jacksons Hide Restorer. That was over 20 years ago and it is still supple enough to use without cracking. The secret is to work the softener in a little bit at a time over a period of weeks allowing it to absorb between applications. You also do not want to overdo it as the leather will get too soft and break down.
Thanks Val and Jim and to the couple of email replys, I have enough information and ideas. I will share another , Leather Honey seems to have a lot of good reviews. Warm it to thin it and do a couple of light applications with a few days time between applications. It sounds like this is a good product for you new leather Model T seats too.
