Hey Gang,
Does anybody know where I can purchase a copy of the book, "Any Colour — So Long as it's Black, Designing the Model T Ford 1906-1908," by John Duncan?
It seems to be available digitally (Nook, Kindle, etc.), but an e-book about a car that starts with a crank, for a guy who starts his car with a crank, is just plain wrong. I need two covers with paper pages in between. It was published in Australia, hence the problem with availablity at a sane price.

Let me know if you need a hand obtaining it (This site is in New Zealand)

Try that
Here's another one reasonably priced but a long way off. Shipping might be a killer.

I did find one on eBay but it was an old listing and had ended.
I bought it at Amazon UK earlier this year: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1459624114/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
Large print and easy to read, but I didn't think I learned anything new I hadn't already read in this forum or in the usual books like Bruces Encyclopedia and Stern's Tin Lizzie. Don't think it had any pictures either..?
I can sell my copy if you like But shipping would be $9 to $13 to the US depending on how much it weigh
I am curious as to the quality of the research and writing. Anyone read/have this book that would be willing to give a short review? My bookshelves are overflowing into a second room so I need to pick and choose what I buy now!
It is hard to tell who this book was aimed at. It does explain the workings of the model T in very simple terms. I expect that my 8yo grandson (who is interested in all things mechanical and is already a great help in the workshop) will enjoy reading it when his vocabulary has expanded a bit.
However, it was a disappointment when it first arrived, I gave it a quick flick, put it on the bookshelf and have not looked at it again until today.
"Any Colour so long as it's black" seems like a strange title for a book focused on the 1906-08 period of the Ford Motor Company. Ford's "black era", as we all know, was 1914-25. (Except for some little-known 1915-18 closed cars.)
Theres one on ABE Books for $16.

Gavin,
Thanks for the review. Sounds like something I will pass on.
The title of the book had me interested as that would make fascinating reading if the right author wrote it.
Lots of books cover the Model T development to some extent- the first book in the Nevins & Hill trilogy :Ford, The times, the man the company", "My Forty Years With Ford" by Charles Sorensen, "Public Image of Henry Ford" by David Lewis, etc etc.
With so many books available, a new thread of book reviews could be interesting.
I'll second abebooks.com
Abebooks.com is a great source for books. I've been buying from that site for a few years now.
A book review thread sounds interesting. I'll contribute to that.
I scored a copy from my local library. Glad I did as I read it in one sitting, and agree that it probably won't teach you anything new. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.
I'm of a similar opinion as Nevin and Gavin. It's a real "pot boiler"! I bought a copy a few years ago and read it in a night. Didn't learn anything new. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all. There are much better things and books to spend money on.
I like Carl Pates book for a Pre T through 1909 T history. I have no financial interest, except I drink Carl's booze at the Early Ford Club meet and greet at Hershey every year .
