For years, the International Herald Tribune ran this classic Art Buchwald column every year at this time.

We will head for my daughter and son-in-law's house tomorrow for the traditional celebration.

A very happy Thanksgiving to all!

From cyberspace, years ago:
----------
You are more wealthy than you imagined. Keep an eye on your blessings as they grow to spread across the land.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness......
you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation.......
you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church or any public meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death.......
you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a good roof overhead and a place to sleep........
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace......
you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married...... you are very rare, even in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful......
you are blessed because the majority can, but do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder.......
your are blessed because you can offer Your healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

At our home this year, we will be counting our "Thanksgiving" blessings.

It's not likely to start unless the cam, etc., are backward.

Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday. It encompasses every one in this country. While Christmas excludes my Jewish and Native American friends as well as many non-believers, Thanksgiving includes all of them. Other holidays do not bring the same kind of reflection on our blessings that Thanksgiving does. We have in this country, each and every one of us, many things to be thankful for. (Among the things I am thankful for is that Golden Corral will be open).

Every year, I go out to my little ranch, fill the bird feeders, throw some pellets out for the Cottontail rabbits and break open a couple bales of hay for the deer. Not that they really need it, they all eat pretty well and survived for many centuries before I started feeding them, but it shares the bounty of the land they live on with them. I like to think that maybe they are thankful for me.

I am already thankful. My wife usually does the grocery shopping, so I don't get into the market often. I went this time because the turkey is quite heavy and her back is bad. We visited 4 markets and she had something to buy at each one from her shopping list. She knows just where the bargains are.

As I was looking around, it impressed me that we have so much food and such a variety of foods from all over the world. Also we have the money to buy them. For this I am very thankful.
I am also thankful for many other things.
Norm

Ditto. Daughter is hosting her first Thanksgiving Dinner (freshly married) so "support" is the game of the day.

We will be doing another "Day after Thanksgiving family get together"
This time my mom will be absent because she passed in August.
A few years ago we took her for her first ride in the T after it had been in storage for 45 years.
This year we will again be riding in the T and remembering how excited she was about the ride.

Today, Several members of the Long Beach Model T Ford club picked up many loads of boxed food and Ralphs gift certificates at Performance Tire and delivered them to needy families in the Long Beach metro area. The club has partnered with Performance Tire to deliver the food boxes each Thanksgiving for several years. It takes many hours of labor to pack and gather names of needy families and organize the many routes and delivery times with maps and phone numbers. Many many Thanks to the people at Performance Tire.

You realize how fortunate we are and how many things we have to be thankful for when you see first hand so many people in dire need.

Remember to give Thanks

We are very blessed to have all the food we care to buy and the freedom to enjoy it.

On a lighter note, I'm happy that my Wife helps me restore and maintain our Model T's, and further that she doesn't hang out with any 4 star Generals! :-)

I love it....youngest granddaughter spent the night last night and right after breakfast this morning, she wanted to jump in the Model T and go for a ride. We went for a nice little 10 minute ride here locally.

She's a very tall 6 yrs old and I have been showing her little things on how to start and drive the coupe.

When we jumped in, she was already pulling the choke out and ready to fire it up. When the ride was over she jumped out first and was trying to open the hood to turn the gas off....grin...

Great way to start the day we give thanks for our blessings.
