Put the cursor in the message where you want the pic to appear. Click on "upload attachment". Browse to the folder where the pic is located and double click it.

I only use pics in the .jpg format. I am not sure what other formats are allowed. Some may not be allowed.

If the size of the pic is too big, it will not load and must be resized smaller. I use photoresizer (google it) to resize pics.

Cheers

Andy,

Actually that is 200 kilobytes. Just make sure your photos are about 180,000 bytes and you should be OK. I use Mihov ImageResizer which is a free download and I think easy to use. There are other programs available for free you can find by searching for "resize" in this Forum.

Uploading is not too hard either. I use the "hard way" and type in the code to attach a picture. In the following text line please note there are no spaces allowed outside the curly braces. And, you must use the curly braces not the parentheses.

That will result in posting an image

Adjust the resolution of the picture and resize it. Most folks here just resize the picture until it's under 200Kb but that results in a picture the size of a postage stamp. Set the resolution to something like 97dpi or less. That's the maximum that most computer screens will display anyway.

There's a lot of free software out there that will auto-adjust resolution by letting you set the maximum file size. I've been using IrfanView since the late 90s. It lets you do just that as well as setting the size of the picture. I use it in batch mode to convert all my digital camera pictures. Most pictures here don't need to be more than about 40-90Kb unless you plan to print them out in poster size or sell them to a magazine. So crank your camera down to one megapixel too and you can save a lot of disk space.

If you're using a Mac it's super easy. I always make a copy to resize and keep the original full size for future use.

1 Open the copy.
2 Click Tools.
3 Click Adjust Size.
4 Change the number in WIDTH or HEIGHT until the number in Resulting Size is 194 or less.
5 Click OK. You're done. You may see a higher number (over 200) in the file info. That doesn't matter. The number that was in Resulting Size was the real one.
