As some of y'all know, I have been in the process of writing a book on Ford history with emphasis on Henry Ford, from a different perspective than most of the Ford books I have read. While this has taken longer than I ever imagined(12 years just accumulating source material and research) I finally have all the chapter outlines completed and the first 4 chapters in rough draft.

By my rough estimate it will be around 350-400 pages long. It's undetermined if it will be paperback or hardback but if it manages to get published I won't care either way. :-)

Finding a new angle must have been tough especially after the reams of stuff that's been written about HF. Good Luck on your endeavor and let us know when it's published.

Sounds like an interesting book. It seems there is always more to learn about Henry Ford and the Model T.

Hopefully, you will find a publisher, but even if you don't, you can still publish the book using any of the print to order electronic book publishers, including Amazon, etc. Unlike ebooks, they actually print a single copy each time someone orders it. (You can also include the option of an ebook as well) The prices are comparable to ordinary published books. The author sets the price and gets a royalty each time one is ordered. I've bought books done that way, and the quality has been excellent. Isn't technology amazing!

Luke,

I am so pleased you are doing something with your knowledge. If I may pay you a compliment, your contributions on this forum reveal your open mind on the subject of Henry Ford and the company history, and indicate your grasp of the facts.

You and I are in a similar situation. If there is one thing that has held me up more than anything else, it would be the pursuit of accuracy or supportable ideas. Very early in the piece I discovered the following Henry Ford quote - it appears at the front of my manuscript and I have reminded myself of it numerous times during the research and writing process....

"If you must tell all that you know, be sure you really know all that you tell."

I know you will be living to this creed as well, so I'm quite sure your book will make the book a valuable contribution to the Ford history.

Best wishes,
John Stokes

Looking forward to buying a copy, Luke. And if you include a section with pics of MTFCA members' cars, including mine, I'll pick up a few copies to pass out...grin..

Thanks for the kind words! Several people have asked me how it was coming along so figured I'd make a thread about it so everyone could see.

A trip to the Archives for more research is in store for late summer along with some photo taking of Ford sites along the way.

Yes there will be a section on Ford cars, but I haven't got that far yet. That's slated to be Chapter 12.

May check into signing books on request, but that may devalue it. :-) But I'm getting the cart before the horse here.

I love books on Ford and his cars. Would like to get a copy before books disappear and can only get them on those new fangled electronic tablets. It's like I lived long enough to see Fahrenheit 451 on a small screen.
