My 1924 headlight is missing the metal piece in side where the socket goes in .where can I get one or have to get new headlight.
It would probably be easier to find another headlight.
Kenny post a pic of what it looks like. I may have one.

Drove one of those stubborn sleeves out of a rusty bucket. Deformed a tad, if you want it, PM me with your snail mail address and I'll mail this free to you
can we have a discussion on here regarding the best kind of headlight for these cars? 6v? 12v? what bulbs are the best? i have heard an 1157 with one post filed off is a winner. any ideas?

As many options as T driver's!
I don't drive my T's at night, maybe on tour a couple of evenings running late back to the hotel, but that is all. And those times the host hotels are on well street lite hiways too
Found that any driving on today's street lighted roads, with moderns running around you with super bright lights, seeing the road at T speed doesn't require my T's to have bright lamps.
Now on dark county roads, that is different, and the stock lamps I use are the vendor 32cp(dim) and 50cp (bright) 6v. With good generator, these lamps work ok for me.
Problem is on-coming traffic with more bright lamps than what is out in front of my T, gives me night blindness, as my eyeballs are trying to use the somewhat dimmer T headlamps to see the road, and when the cars pass you, you have some seconds of 'where did the road go?' which is exciting at times.
So, can't answer you, perhaps if I wanted to drive at night, would retro fit seal beam headlamps in the T headlamp bucket....that would do it!
An 1157 is a dual filament 12 volt turn signal / tail light bulb. It is not bright enough to be an effective headlamp bulb. Sounds like a loser to me.

What Bulb are you using in your 15 ?
I bought 500 light bulbs from an old parts house going out of business. I got a few bulbs that will work on a 16 mag power source but are not very bright.
What are you guys with mag head lights using for a bulb???
There's at least two different headlight buckets--One with a flat back like Dan posted and a round back. They use different socket sleeves. The flat back is pressed in and the round back has a rolled in sleeve. I'm not sure of the years but if you look for another bucket be sure to get one that matches what you have.
I am using some old stock Mazda 6 volt headlamp bulbs wired in series, operating off a 12 volt battery. They have a two contact base for the single filament, just like the original 9 volt magneto bulbs did.
I am using an 1157 bulb as a tail / brake lamp mounted in place of the wick holder in the original tail lamp.
I bought a Mazda light bulb cabinet with a lot of old bulbs. I'll have to check and see if there is any,one could use on a T. Someone offered my $150.00 for it, a while back, I should have sold it to him.
Pretty sure the T parts vendors sell those sockets for the headlights.

I am using #1142 bulbs wired in series. They work well for me.
I am using 1157 bulbs in my 24 and 27. They give as good or better light as I got from 6 volt GE #1000 50CP bulbs. I just file off the unneeded bayonet point. My 24 bulbs came from Walmart and were labeled Halogen, they are a shade brighter than my other 1157's but are not a true halogen bulb.
Willaim Harper thanks for the number. I am not sure if I tried 1142 or not. I bought the bulbs from an old time parts house called Cheaper Charlie's that went out of business a number of years ago. All 500 bulbs as far as I know are 6 volt. many have the double contact with a single filiment. So far the ones I have tried either burn out on mag or just don't have much light.
Ted Dumas I also got about 5 full boxes of 6 volt, 50 candle power bulbs that work in my newer Ts. I have never heard of the brand before but they do work.
1157 bulbs are 21 candlepower / 4 candlepower. Too dim for headlights. Regular 6 volt Model T headlight bulbs are 50 candlepower, nearly 60% more brightness.
thanks dan.
