Does anyone have any good photos of their RHD setup? specifically the steering column and controls. Also still looking for steering parts for the same!!
An early aluminum RHD hogshead is a rare, pricy object.
You can call Neil Tuckett, I think he has plenty of the later RHD stuff. The tie rod shown is later, 1921 - 27 style with the replaceable ball.
I have just sold an unwanted RHD hogshead to a fellow English T owner for £50 (about 70$). It came with a load of RHD parts and a chassis, but not enough to make up a complete car. The missing parts were either hard to find or very expensive.
I have the steering column bracket, aluminum RHD hogshead and hand brake assembly. I do have the majority of the chassis, along with a Canadian 1913 block. Its the things like tie rod that are different I need. Timers aren't difficult around here, just unusual. If I had matching spindles tie rod and such, I wouldn't have to worry about my steering. Any leads are appreciated, as are more photos (thanks Royce!!!!)
Rob -- If you use a tie rod with the straight-shank ball piece, you can use a LHD one and turn the ball the opposite way to make the tie rod work for RHD.
Here are a couple of pics which might be helpful. You might not have a generator to deal with on an early car, but they do complicate matters.
You can use a normal timer and turn it upside-down for RHD, and make a short rod for the linkage. You'll also need a RHD carb throttle shaft arm, or modify a LHD one to work. The throttle linkage rod can be made as shown. Of course, the little throttle and timer levers will need to be relocated if you don't have RHD steering column rods. The handle parts of those rods can be bent the opposite way to function correctly.
hee hee hee someone here should make a RHD car with LHD petals :D the ultimate team building exercise haha!!
Thanks Mike and Terry for the info and pictures. Straight shank tie rods should not be too difficult to find, and will be correct.
