I need help ID this engine, pictures are poor and all I can get. There is no visible markings on it to help id it. Any help would be appreciated.
I know I've seen one before, I think its a continental. They were used in alot of things of the era.
Andy, does it turn over? I think it's the starter motor for the African Queen.
It's from a 1916-1922 International truck.
Thanks Roger,
I imagine they aren't worth too much in their present state?
Andy:
I sent you a private message. There's someone in your area that I think may be interested in it.
Erik
There was a really barn fresh IHC truck like that for sale at the AACA/Model A swap meet at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul about 15-20 years ago. Chunk was missing out of one corner of the block. The truck didn't appear to have many miles on it. My understanding is that the motor was also used in a small tractor IHC built at the time. The tractor wasn't much of a success. The truck would've been nice to have.
McCormick, Allis, and a lot of others used Continental engines. HEY ANDY, DOES IT TURN OVER? IS IT SOMETHING YOU'D LIKE TO SELL? HELLO!!
Mike, it is not a Continental engine. It was IHC's own design. Everything is different than the Type N Continental that was used in many trucks of the period including GMCs.
You're probably right roger but somehow I've got it in my head my 1930 Regular was a Continental engine. Now I'm not gonna sleep again tonight. Do you guys still have a Tractor show in Racine. It seems to me I recall you guys had something going on down there every year.
Yes, Mike we still have the show on the third weekend in July . . . generally the hottest weekend of the year?!?! You can check the posting that Derek Kiefer did of our 2012 show: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/257047/301487.html?1343147084
As far as I know, International only used their own engines . . at least in the early years. The stuff I work on is 1925 or older, so I can't say what all they used after that period.
