I was always told, "the only stupid question is the one you dont ask" so here goes, having rearend trouble in the 27 coupe now, is it possible to use a model a rearend? a friend is turning a 28 model a into a streetrod, the rear end is either free or cheap? thanks
Anything is possible with enough time and effort, but an A rear end won't just bolt up where the T rear end came out of.
Mike Dixon:
If you are serious you would save yourself a lot of work by just repairing the 26 Rear end. It does not take much.
As Hal says, with enough home manufacture of special parts and adapters, you can probably do it. What you'll wind up with is one of those Frankenstein monsters we all make fun of when they show up on Ebay. To each his own. I'd prefer a real Model T, so I'd fix the rear end that's in it.
I think you will find that repairing the T rear end will be cheaper and easier than adapting an A rear end, the service manual is only 12 bucks or so, and mkes the job easy. If you run into something that you do not understand, post the question here, and these guys will fix you up.

You might adapt the Model A brakes to the Model T rear axle. Royce Persons' dad did that on a Model T pickup he built.
