Apparently the seller doesn't know MN from MI. It's in MN, not Detroit. Anyway, I know that's not the point. Very cool item!
What's all that tin around the front and left side? Is that something to hold water?
He also listed it on Minneapolis Craigslist. I saw the ad last week.
It's not uncommon for people to post duplicate ads on Craigslist in multiple cities. In certain cases it's a smart thing to do in order to increase exposure. In this case that ad has received even more exposure because Gary White posted it on the MTFCA Forum.
Also, whenever I've listed antique car parts on Craigslist, I get legitimate responses from all over the country.
The tin is to hold water eliminating the need for a radiator. Kind of like cooling a hit or miss engine. I would imagine that it extends down to the lower water pipe on the drivers side.
The engine does not have a flywheel and I would question how it can run without it, not enough momentum. Needs a carb and ignition system, but always interesting. The seller told me his dad ran the engine without a flywheel so what do I know.
I have one set-up as a 2 wheel garden tractor, has cut down T gas tank, flyball in front of fan. generator turned into oil pump w/deepened pan, goes to guage up on firewall, chevy trans, chain drives cut down Buick rear end, need wheels, as mine are down to the hubs. has 1/2 hood, tail wheel , used to have a seat attached, clutch is 26-7 wide drum, presently stuck, NEAT
What's the big deal? Sometimes I have a "2 cylinder" T, sometimes 3, however I'm always hoping all 4 cylinders work
look at the picture in my profile!
Brian,
That is "way cool"
