A neighbor of mine visited the Air Force Museum in Dayton,OH and sent me these pictures.

I hobbled out to my shop yesterday on my new knee and saw this
It is nice to see that the museum is representing the ambulance as a reproduction. I just noticed, it does not have a parking brake / clutch lever.

"...belts rather than gears..." Hmmmmm.
Well, I suppose that's an easy way to describe it to someone who doesn't know any better.
I guess that the unknowing could confuse belt for band!
I saw the same ambulance 15 years ago at Dayton..... has wide clutch & brake pedals..... repro ambulance on later chassis.
Nuttin wrong with that, at least someone made the effort to have a WW 1 style Army ambulance for display.
