what are these bumpers worth,i am thinking of getting rid of them?
That's a different style than the ones on my 27 coupe. When I first joined the forum, someone said mine added $1000 to the value of the car...I have no idea how accurate that was or wasn't though.
Danial,
Your bumpers are the factory accessory style. I think the "add $1000 to the value" statement kind of means that they make the whole car look better and therefore elevate its overall value, above and beyond the value of the bumpers themselves. (Which aren't worth $1000)
Scott,
Your bumpers are an aftermarket style, as factory bumpers were not an option when your car was new. They appear painted and not plated. I'm guessing $200 - $250 for the set. Perhaps others have a better handle on recent valuations of such things however.
The factory one 'add $1000' is just a tad off, new repro matching factory set with brackets f/r and new SS bars will set you back $427.95 (front) and $495.95 (rear) for total $923.90. Add freight and there you go
Did original ones to Dixie, but powder coated black on the original bars instead of nickel, total cost of front / rear brackets / bars at swap meets was 'bout $200, + $100 in powder coating, and two years searching.
Those aftermarket bars are pretty neat, and should bring at least $250 or more for front and rear.
I think they look great and can't possibly detract from the car's value + you get a nice spot for your right hand when pulling it over.
You should keep the bumpers. My car has blacksmith made bumpers. I was hit in the rear at a stop light. Not bad but there may have been a lot of damage if I did not have the bumpers. The bumpers did screw up the young ladies car that hit me. She was too busy texting to notice me even though I have stop lights.

thanks,i sure like the plain look of a T ,to me they just don't look right on a 23,i am not a big accessory guy i like'em the way Henry made them.
A couple of years ago I bought this aftermarket bumper at the Wichita swap meet. The tag says $15, but the guy let me gnaw him down to $10 because he didn't want to haul it home. It pays to shop around.
They look nice and add value to your car, but the drawback is they weigh about the same as an additional passenger, so they will slow you down when you climb hills. I have them on one of my cars. See profile.

The bumpers on my 26 Tudor are original Ford, most of the nickel is still on them so I have not done any restoration on them. I kind of like the patina. This photo is just after I got the car home and I had not done anything to it yet.
I like the way they look...and I like those black powder-coated ones, Dan. Cool.
But even if mine didn't have them, I'd still like my T just as much...grin...
I don't mind losing a little power up the hills for them.
Yea, bumpers are good to have, esp if you can't back up too well, with a fat foot on the reverse pedal....bumper saved the stop/tail lamp, license plate and paint on this tour
Steve Jelf, do your bumpers bolt up as is, or do they require brackets that bolt to the frame? I have a pair of brackets for a bumper similar to yours. I lost the bumper in a fire several years ago but the brackets were in a different location. If you can use the brackets, let me know. Dave
Looking for 1924 fordor bumpers.
Kenny, since there were no factory bumpers you may want to purchase Scotts bumpers it looks like they will work as that appears to be a 24 coupe, you may need to drill some holes in your frame to mount them, my bumpers are aftermarket and i needed to drill two holes in the frame in the carb area on both sides the rear bracket attached to the battery box bolts and the body to frame bolts in the rear.Mine were on the car when i got it and i spent $600.00 getting all the parts nickle plated.I have posted pictures on two occasions . Rick
Dan,
Wow. Didn't realize the repro bumpers had gotten so pricey. Thanks.
