Would they perhaps be for fitting side light to a car that didn't have them from the factory?

Herb

Bob-
I've never seen anything like them before.
They look like they were on a car that did not have a windshield. Maybe a truck? Fire truck? or???

They fit the stantions perfect, they are a casting and machined with a nice curve, square holes, I might have to get these made they are a lot nicer than the repr'os, and they fit, might not be right for show car but for a driver if you like side lamps, Bob

The question is, are they genuine Ford? If they are, there should be some kind of casting mark on them.

No markings, I bead blasted them, they fit so nice I don't know who made these, Bob

Could they have been made from 1917 to 1923 brackets by grinding them down? That's what it looks like to me.

I am looking at a bracket like Rich suggest and I think he is correct on this being a modified common bracket.

Richard

Good call.

Seems to be a pair of ground down windshield supports, '17'-'19 that had the built in oil lamp bracket.

I seem to remember that some T's as later as 1925 came without a starter an battery so oil side light were necessary. Perhaps these were for Ts so equipped.

IF they are ground down windshield supports, they would not fit properly over a windshield support. I would suspect these are brackets for the late "non-electric" Ts--the stripped-down model that was sold clear into '27. The late models even came with non-demountable wheels that used a one-piece steel felloe & rim.
I could be wrong though!

There is a New Beauty here in NZ that has been passed down through the same family, that has those. I think David is right.

I have seen non electric '26s, but never a '27. There were lots of non starter '25s.

I, too, think David is right. The only pair of '26-'27 cowl lamp brackets I've seen are on Ben Hardeman's Model T and your picture looks like his.
